"Vicky attacked his grandmother Ramdevi with an iron object."
A 22-year-old Indian man identified as Vicky, of Fatehabad, Haryana, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his grandmother on Friday, April 19, 2019.
It is believed he killed 70-year-old Ramdevi after she did not attend his son’s party.
The accused’s mother and father are also suspected to be involved in the crime.
It was reported that Ramdevi lived separately from her two sons after she had an argument with them over a property dispute.
The victim’s husband Ramavtar lodged the complaint and accused Vicky of murdering his wife.
He also alleged that Vicky’s mother Nirmala Devi and father Jai Kumar are connected to his wife’s death.
Fatehabad police officer Surendra Kamboj confirmed that a case of murder has been registered based on Ramavtar’s complaint.
Ramdevi’s grandson Vicky had organised a naming party for his newly-born son on Friday, April 19, 2019. He invited his grandmother but she did not attend the ceremony.
Vicky became upset with his grandmother after she failed to attend the celebrations.
According to the victim’s husband, Vicky and his parents went to her house and an argument ensued.
The argument soon turned violent and Vicky attacked Ramdevi with an object made of iron which caused significant injuries.
Ramavtar said: “Vicky attacked his grandmother Ramdevi with an iron object. She was taken to a hospital but the doctors declared her as brought dead.”
Police registered a murder case against the three suspects. They arrested the prime suspect Vicky and his mother Nirmala, on Saturday, April 20, 2019. However, Jai has since gone on the run.
SHO Kamboj said: “The accused had attacked his grandmother with an iron turner.
“The postmortem of the deceased has been conducted. We have arrested two accused and the third will be arrested soon.”
In another case where extreme action was taken over a small reason occurred in Mumbai when a man killed his wife for constantly watching films.
Chetan Chowgule frequently argued with his wife as she would constantly watch films on TV or on her mobile phone.
On April 9, 2019, the couple had a row after Aarati asked her husband for money but he refused and said he had no money because he was unemployed.
Later that night, Chetan was woken by his wife watching a film on her phone. Chowghule told his wife to stop as it was preventing him from getting to sleep but she ignored him and continued watching.
This caused him to snap. He then took a rope and strangled her to death.
When he calmed down, he realised what he had done and handed himself into police.
Chowghule admitted to killing his wife and a murder case was registered against him.
