Indian husband NR Ganesh, aged 45, was arrested for marrying multiple women using matrimonial sites.

The Mysore, Karnataka resident married four women without the others knowing about it. However, his third wife eventually found out and informed the police.

After his arrest, officers found out that he had married four widows. He would use matrimonial sites to approach them and took measures to avoid being found out.

He used different names for each of the women. Ganesh used the aliases Vikram, Karthik and Harish Kumar.

Ganesh would also make sure that none of the four women was from the same place.

He spoke to the women and persuaded them into marriage after making false promises.

The Indian husband worked as a real estate agent but also obtained loans and sites for clients.

Police officers also discovered that he conned the elderly by falsely promising them pensions and other schemes.

Ganesh first married in 2004 to a garments factory worker from Rajajinagar, Bengaluru.

Seven years later he married a housewife from Mysore without his first wife’s knowledge.

An officer said: “After the second marriage, he registered on a matrimonial site looking for widows and divorced women.

“In 2018, he married a widow who is a software engineer by profession.”

Ganesh got married for the fourth time in 2019 but his third wife found out about his marriages and divorced him. She also filed a complaint with the RMC Yard police.

Following his arrest, Ganesh admitted using different sites to look for vulnerable women and had used different names to introduce himself.

An officer explained:

“The accused was staying in his third wife’s house and had taken away her gold and silver ornaments and cash.”

“He has also cheated two family friends of his third wife of Rs. 35 to Rs. 40 lakh for a property deal. His third wife was staying in an upscale apartment on HMT Main Road.

“He has taken Rs. 9.5 lakh in cash from another resident of the apartment.”

Ganesh was remanded to judicial custody. Meanwhile, police officers have not ruled out the possibility that he may have done the same to more women.

Bangalore Mirror reported that RMC Yard inspector KH Mahendra Kumar appealed to those who may have been one of Ganesh’s victims to come forward.

Officers stated: “If anybody has been cheated by him, they can approach the RMC Yard police and file a complaint.”
