"you are also a person with low character"

In an appearance on the 24 Plus podcast, Humaira Bano criticised Firdous Jamal for his disrespectful comments.

During the podcast, Humaira called out Firdous for belittling actresses in the industry, particularly those who are in their 30s.

In a previous podcast appearance, Firdous had made headlines for age-shaming Mahira Khan.

He suggested that she looked too old to play leading roles and should instead take on the role of a mother.

He even went as far as to say that Mahira appeared “super old”.

The actor deemed her unsuitable to the traditional image of a “heroine” in Pakistani television, which he defined as someone in her teens.

Humaira was upset by his comments and didn’t hold back when discussing Firdous.

She said: “I felt angry and sad after hearing Firdous Jamal’s inappropriate remarks against the women who are working in the showbiz industry.

“I have worked with him in the past, but now I won’t work with him.

“Firdous Sahab, I am telling you, you are also a person with low character, just like you think the women in the industry are.

“Your sons are also part of this industry, and not only this, you have earned your bread and butter through this industry all your life, which you now abuse.”

The actress didn’t stop there, further accusing Firdous of lacking basic moral integrity, referring to his past statement about leaving his home after watching his daughter-in-law on television.

Firdous claimed he didn’t want to be associated with “characterless” people.

Humaira Bano said: “You said you don’t want to be called a ‘characterless person’ but you are a man with the same low morals and character because you also belong to the same industry.”

She concluded by calling on the industry to hold Firdous Jamal accountable for his views.

Firdous’ previous comments about Mahira Khan and the “ideal age” for a film heroine sparked outrage.

In a podcast, the veteran actor stated: “A heroine is a girl aged 15, 16 or at most 18 or 20. Who will find a mature woman appealing?”

Many accused him of promoting harmful, paedophilic views.

One person wrote on X: “I’m not gonna say what I really wanna say about this sick old perv except that Uncle ji probably has a fetish for underage girls (basically children)!”

Another wrote:

“Stop fantasising about 15-16 year olds. You paedophile!”

Amidst the controversy, Mahira Khan was asked about his comments during an appearance at the World Urdu Conference.

Mahira skilfully side-stepped the question and responded:

“I cannot comment on Firdous Jamal as I do not know him.”
