he is determined to keep Moose Wala’s “legacy going".
The killing of Sidhu Moose Wala impacted many around the world, with Steel Banglez admitting that it took “months” before he was ready to return to music.
Banglez’s latest release ‘Attach’ is a homage to Moose Wala. The Brit says the late musician inspired him to make his “best music ever”.
The music video features Sidhu Moose Wala in what is his last appearance.
Also featuring British rapper Fredo, the song has amassed nearly 20 million views in seven days and reached two million streams on Spotify.
Steel Banglez has worked with many well-known names such as Burna Boy, J Hus, Rudimental and Dave and says he is determined to keep Moose Wala’s “legacy going”.
He said: “Knowing our relationship, knowing what he was like, knowing what we spoke about, I know he would want me to do my thing.
“So, with that acceptance… it’s just put me in a place to go and achieve more.”
Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in Punjab in 2022.
His legacy has lived on and he has gained international recognition.
Banglez described the pair as “like best friends” and said he felt a responsibility to “do something in his name”.
He added: “Whether it’s building studios in India in his hometown or even directing a film.
“I have to keep that legacy going and can’t let that die.”
Banglez revealed ‘Attach’ was made in April 2021 and was an experiment using different sounds like Afrobeats and drill.
He thought: “It would be dope for Sidhu to jump on.”
His initial plan was for this song to be on his album The Playlist, which he released in 2023.
However, Steel Banglez said: “I held the song back because obviously Sidhu passed away.
“It was one of those things I had dear to my heart.
“So, I kept the record and wanted to release it at the right time, maybe a better time after speaking to the family.”
The music video, also directed by Banglez, ends with a voice note from Sidhu Moose Wala.
Banglez said it was his “last real big moment with him”.
He added: “Editing it was a bit emotional. It’s deep, to be honest. I don’t even know what to think.
“It’s not yet hit home that the track is finally out. It’s been on my laptop for so long. Maybe it’ll hit me in a couple of weeks.
“I know I’ve done my job, and I know the track’s a banger.
“No one’s seen Sidhu since he passed away, and that video is where I have him, and fun so it was a good thing for people to see.”
