Fawad Khan Admits being Under Pressure over 'Aabeer Gulaal' f

"I was very worried."

Pakistani superstar Fawad Khan has confessed that he carried immense pressure while working on his upcoming cross-border romantic film Aabeer Gulaal.

The actor spoke about his decision to sign the project, admitting that the journey carried emotional and logistical challenges.

Starring opposite Indian actress Vaani Kapoor, Fawad explained that Aabeer Gulaal represents a refreshing shift from today’s increasingly dark cinema.

Formerly titled Abir Gulaal, the film was renamed.

Fawad described the film as a gentle love story that acts as a “palette cleanser”, offering audiences something lighter and more heartfelt.

Fawad remarked: “In today’s cinema, we see so much intensity and heaviness that people yearn for a chance to breathe.”

He compared the film to “a comforting dish made of simple ingredients, where every flavour is allowed to stand out clearly”.

Despite its soft and subtle story, the project has faced hurdles, particularly due to its Indo-Pakistani cast and collaborative production process.

Fawad admitted he felt stressed about whether the movie would see the light of day, given the unpredictable political climate.

He revealed: “I was very worried. There was a lot of pressure around the film’s release.”

He added that despite the difficulties, his faith in the story and its message helped him push forward with confidence.

The actor acknowledged that this film marks his return to romance, reminiscent of his beloved roles in Khoobsurat and Humsafar.

For many fans, his comeback to the genre reinforces why he became a household name across South Asia and beyond.

Though restricted in some regions, the global rollout is designed to unite audiences through timeless storytelling and universally resonant emotions.

By stepping into Aabeer Gulaal, Fawad Khan hopes to remind viewers that cinema can still thrive on love and simplicity.

Aabeer Gulaal is scheduled to release internationally on September 12, 2025, across Pakistan, the UAE, and several other foreign territories.

However, it will not be released in India, a decision influenced by regulatory challenges and current diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

The absence of an Indian release disappointed Indian fans.

On social media, one person said: “We can’t enjoy the film just because of politics.”

Another wrote: “I hope it becomes available online on some platform too.”

Meanwhile, the film’s trailers have been well received, with audiences praising their emotional depth and minimalist yet visually pleasing aesthetics.

Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor’s pairing has generated buzz, with admirers highlighting the cross-border significance of a story rooted in love and connection.
