Emraan Hashmi has responded to claims of rude behaviour by his Jannat (2008) co-star Javed Sheikh.
Javed Sheikh’s recent claims about his experience with Emraan Hashmi recently went viral.
In a recent interview, Javed alleged that Emraan had been dismissive and rude during their initial meeting on the film’s set.
Javed recalled when the two actors first met at Newlands Cricket Stadium in South Africa.
According to Javed, Emraan greeted him with a handshake but then turned his face away dismissively, which left him feeling upset.
He further stated that during rehearsals, he refused to approach Emraan and insisted that the Bollywood actor come to him.
These claims have since caused a stir, especially considering that the two worked together in Jannat, a commercially successful film.
In Jannat, Javed Sheikh portrayed his character of an underworld don exceptionally well.
The film’s success, however, didn’t seem to alleviate the apparent tension between the two.
Emraan Hashmi, in response to the allegations, expressed complete bewilderment.
In an interview, he described the situation as “a giant comedy of errors”.
Emraan remarked that he didn’t recall the incident as clearly as Javed had.
He explained: “We were not even close friends, and we didn’t hang out together.
“I don’t remember any such thing that Javed claimed in his interview.”
Emraan suggested that the incident might have been a misunderstanding.
He found it strange that Javed Sheikh still held onto this memory after more than 16 years.
He concluded with a laugh, commenting on the absurdity of the situation:
“It’s bizarre that a small incident has turned into something much larger.”
Emraan acknowledged that at that time, he was much younger and didn’t remember every detail of his interactions.
However, he emphasised that he had always maintained cordial terms with Javed throughout the filming process.
With contrasting remarks, fans are now left questioning whether the incident was a simple misunderstanding or not.
A user questioned: “He does have a point. Why did he wait so many years to speak about it?”
Another wrote: “Javed clearly wants some attention.”
Despite the controversy, both actors have moved on to successful careers, with Jannat remaining a popular film.
