"it has been a nurturing ground for many artistes."
Celebrated singer Baby Naznin has returned to Bangladesh Television (BTV) after two decades, surprising her fans.
The singer, who had been blacklisted for political reasons, was invited to perform on March 21, 2025, for a special Eid musical programme.
Priyotomo Iktu Shono marks her first appearance on BTV in two decades.
The invitation to perform came after a shift in the political landscape.
Baby Naznin enthusiastically accepted the offer and set two important precedents.
The first came through her music, as she recorded eight songs in one night.
From March 21-22, Baby Naznin recorded some of her most iconic tracks.
These included ‘Du Chokhe Ghum Ase Na’, ‘Kal Sararat’, ‘Madhuchandrima’ and ‘Koi Gela Nithur’.
These beloved songs are cherished by her fans and have long been associated with her musical legacy.
The second precedent was Baby Naznin’s message of hope and unity.
During her performance, she called for an end to the political blacklist that had previously excluded certain artists from performing on national television.
The singer was vocal about the pain of not being able to perform on BTV for so many years.
Naznin emphasised the need to ensure such restrictions are never imposed again.
She shared: “BTV is not just a state-run channel; it has been a nurturing ground for many artistes.
“Decades have passed, but no one thought it was necessary to end the unjust denial of opportunities.”
Her call for inclusivity and fair treatment of all artists resonated deeply with many.
As part of her return, Baby Naznin also recorded a regional wedding song, ‘Khola Hater Baluchore’.
The songs were choreographed by Kabirul Islam Ratan, with Afroza Sultana acting as the executive producer.
Naznin’s performance was crafted to bring more joy to Eid celebrations while maintaining an artistic touch.
The singer’s return to national television has been widely praised, as her absence had left a gap in Bangladesh’s musical landscape.
In addition to her BTV performance, Naznin will also appear on several other Eid programmes.
This includes GTV’s Timeline Bangladesh, Ekattor TV’s biographical programme, and Jamuna TV’s Jamunar Nimontrone.
Fans can enjoy her performance during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays on the respective channels.
This significant return marks not just a personal achievement for Baby Naznin.
It is also a triumph for all Bangladeshi artists who have faced similar restrictions in the past.
