Elon Musk hit out at the “hateful, unrepentant racists” within the Republican Party, calling for their removal as tensions rise over the H-1B visa debate.
Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy showed their support for foreign workers.
His response came after a Democrat accused the party of treating US Indians “differently”.
Donald Trump has selected five US Indians but Sriram Krishnan’s appointment has sparked the most controversy.
Krishnan’s appointment and stance on the green card issue faced criticism from some far-right supporters.
Pro-MAGA supporter and self-proclaimed “proud Islamophobe” Laura Loomer was among the critics.
She threatened to tell MAGA to “stay home” during the next midterm elections.
Calling Krishnan’s appointment “deeply disturbing”, Loomer also launched a series of attacks on Indians.
Describing workers from India as “third-world invaders”, she called out “tech bros” Musk and Ramaswamy for supporting overseas workers within the tech industry.
At one point, she tweeted: “The average IQ in India is 76.”
Elon Musk blasted the critics, calling for “contemptible fools” in the Republican Party to be removed.
His comment came in response to a post on X by Neera Tanden, Joe Biden’s Director of the US Domestic Policy Council.
Tanden tweeted: “I am an Indian American who was born here and it’s crystal clear that the Democratic Party sees me as American and a large part of the base of the Republican Party does not.
“I hope Indian Americans remember this moment at the next election. They don’t see you as one of them. And never will.
“You thought they just hated other immigrants. But it turns out there’s no exception for you. As many of us have been telling you.”
American author Scott Adams claimed MAGA Republicans are now “copying the Democrats’ playbook on how to lose elections while still feeling good about it”.
In response, Musk said: “Yes.
“And those contemptible fools must be removed from the Republican Party, root and stem.”
When some questioned his post, Musk clarified:
“The ‘contemptible fools’ I’m referring to are those in the Republican Party who are hateful, unrepentant racists.
“They will absolutely be the downfall of the Republican Party if they are not removed.”
Meanwhile, Elon Musk’s former partner Grimes spoke out against the rising racism towards Indians in the United States.
She posted on X: “Concocting anti-Indian sentiment out of nowhere is embarrassing, y’all.
“They were clear about their plans.”
Opening up about her upbringing, Grimes revealed:
“My stepdad’s Indian and I had an amazing childhood in a half-Indian household. Indian culture blends well with Western culture.”
After divorcing, Grimes’ mother married Ravi Sidhoo.
In a later post, Elon Musk stated: “Anyone – of any race, creed or nationality – who came to America and worked like hell to contribute to this country will forever have my respect.
“America is the land of freedom and opportunity. Fight with every fibre of your being to keep it that way!”
