"Every aspect was great."

The final of The Great British Bake Off 2024 aired on November 26 on Channel 4.

Dylan Bachelet, Christiaan de Vries, and Georgie Grasso battled it out in the tent to win the grand baking prize.

The series was presented by Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond, while Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith judged the competition.

For their final bakes, the three contestants were tasked with baking sweet and savoury scones for their signature challenge.

The technical challenge saw them take on an afternoon tea display that consisted of lemon cakes, egg and crest bread rolls, and strawberry tarts.

For their showstopper, the bakers had to produce a challenging three-tiered hanging cake.

Dylan struggled in the first two challenges. He was forced to remake his scones at one point, and he ranked last in the technical.

The baker wasn’t entirely satisfied with his showstopper as his cakes seemed to have lumps of flour in them.

Nevertheless, Dylan was praised for his flavour and overall design.

Over the 2024 series of The Great British Bake Off, Dylan did exceedingly well. He earned ‘Star Baker’ twice and received three handshakes from Paul Hollywood.

When the showstopper was over, Dylan admitted: “I think it’s between Christiaan and Georgie.

“I think I’m out of it, to be honest.”

Ultimately, Dylan missed out on winning the show, with Georgie being crowned the champion of the series.

In his farewell letter, Dylan reflected on his time in the competition.

He wrote: “Bake Off…what an insane journey – every aspect was great.

“The bakers, the talent, the production team all made me feel at home and comfortable.

“They all made this experience brilliant! I miss the time in the tent so much now.

“I feel very lucky to have been a part of GBBO 2024 – a great year. I’m sad it’s over.

“That being said, I’m excited for the future, and I can’t wait for Christmas!

“Hopefully, creating lots of new memories with everyone on the show!”

The ending of the episode revealed that since wrapping up filming, Dylan had secured a job in a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Appearing in the show at the early age of 20, Dylan was one of the younger bakers in the 2024 series.

Many viewers expressed that he would have a very successful career in the future.

One fan said: “It’s actually ridiculous how incredible Dylan is at 20. He is going to have a sensational career.”

Dylan Bachelet has South Asian roots, with an Indian mother and grandmother.

When the contestants were announced, Dylan divulged his reaction when he discovered he was going to be in the tent.

He commented: “I was in the car with my mum. We were driving to my grandma’s to celebrate her birthday.

“I was happy, and I didn’t really register it. My mum was super happy. The crew could hear her cry out.”

While the series may now be over, viewers can look forward to the Christmas edition of The Great British Bake Off, which will air during the festive period of 2024.
