"Am very happy in my field. Thank you so much."
Diljit Dosanjh has responded to reports linking him to politics in Punjab.
Speculation gained traction after Punjab Tribune posted an article titled ‘Can Diljit Dosanjh be the New Political Face of Punjab’.
The article claimed civil society activists, including retired soldiers, had encouraged the singer to enter politics.
It added: “Last year, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Aam Aadmi Party Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, suggesting he was ready to engage with leadership across the political spectrum.
“In the past few days, he has clearly distanced himself from separatist politics by objecting to the hoisting of Khalistani flags at his concert in Canada.”
The article went viral and attracted Diljit’s attention, who politely rejected any notion of entering politics.
He wrote on X:
“Never. My job is to entertain. Am very happy in my field. Thank you so much.”
The clarification arrives at a time when Diljit continues to attract attention beyond music and cinema.
In recent years, the Punjabi star has become one of the most recognisable cultural figures representing Punjab on the global stage.
From attending the Met Gala to speaking openly about issues connected to his home state, he frequently finds himself at the centre of wider public discussions.

Earlier in May 2026, Diljit performed to a packed audience in Calgary, Canada.
Videos from the concert showed some pro-Khalistani supporters in the crowd waving a flag linked to terror groups banned in India under the UAPA.
Addressing the disruption during the show, Diljit confronted the protestors directly.
He said:
“If you still have an issue that I sat across from someone on television… then keep waving how many flags you want to.”
The singer also told those involved to stop causing a nuisance and take the matter elsewhere.
Despite the controversy, Diljit continues to balance a successful career across both music and film.
He was last seen in the Bollywood film Border 2 and is preparing for the release of the romantic drama Main Wapas Aaunga.
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film also stars Sharvari Wagh and Naseeruddin Shah in key roles.
Main Wapas Aaunga is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 12.
