Did Imran Khan and Zeenat Aman have an Affair?

Former cricketer and present Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan was once rumoured to be romantically linked to Bollywood diva Zeenat Aman in the 1970s.

Imran Khan was known for his handsome looks, playboy-like image and flirtatious persona.

As the captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Imran was a hit on-field and was certainly scoring off-field.

Meanwhile, on the neighbouring side of the border, Zeenat Aman dominated Bollywood with her stunning looks and bold scenes. She added glamour to the Indian film industry.

Her career grew from strength to strength in a short time. Zeenat became one of the most sought-after actresses in Bollywood.

Between 1976 and 1980, Zeenat Aman and Hema Malini were the highest-paid actresses.

During the 1970s, the Pakistan cricket team toured India.  It is then that Imran met Zeenat at a party in Mumbai.

So what happened when Pakistan’s heartthrob Imran met Bollywood beauty Zeenat?

Their love affair grabbed the national headlines. Speculations continued as there were reports of Imran and Zeenat tying the knot.

Despite this, their rumoured love story came to an unhappy ending as they parted ways.

Zeenat went on to marry Sanjay Khan in 1978, but their relationship was short-lived as they split a year later.

She then went on to marry Mazhar Khan in 1985 until his unfortunate death in 1998. The pair shared two children, Zahaan Khan and Azaan Khan.

Meanwhile, Imran got married to Jemima Goldsmith in 1995. However, they amicably divorced in 2004. They have two sons, Sulaiman Isa Khan and Kasim Khan.

Imran then went on to marry Reham Khan in 2014, yet their marriage ended the following year in 2015.

Imran is now married to Bushra Bibi who he wed in 2018.

In 2018, Imran’s ex-wife Reham Khan released a tell-all book, which revealed tales of their lives together.

She also highlighted how the rumoured relationship of Imran with Zeenat Aman was being discussed in the 1970s.

According to a report by News18, Zeenat Aman was invited to Lahore.

At a press conference at the Makami Hotel, a journalist questioned Zeenat on her relationship with Imran. She replied:

“Now these old things have happened, let them be suppressed, they should be forgotten.”

The love story of Imran and Zeenat gripped both nations as it transcended borders.

According to The Times of India, their relationship was considered to be the union of “two supreme sex symbols of Asia.”

Despite Imran Khan and Zeenat Aman neither denying or confirming the rumours, their speculated love story is still on everyone’s minds many decades later.

It is considered to be one of the greatest Pakistan-India love stories.
