"I’m glad to be able to be a part of that."

The hip-hop collaboration between Emiway Bantai and cricketer Chris Gayle, ‘Jamaica to India’, has climbed to the top of the Indian music charts.

Jamaica to India‘ has more than 18 million views on YouTube.

The number one position in the Indian charts is an accomplishment the renowned batsman is extremely proud of.

Chris explained that is very pleased with how seamless the collaboration came together and the subsequent success.

He said: “The collaboration with Emiway came about by me just messaging him and suggesting that we do a track together and straight away he said let’s do it!

“We recorded our parts separately and met up in Dubai to shoot the video and the synergy was awesome.”

Chris added: “When Dancehall is getting a raw deal worldwide here I am hitting multiple charts in India with one of the most popular Indian artistes, it’s a good look for Jamaican music and I’m glad to be able to be a part of that.”

He went on to say that because of the track, he believes there will be more demand for Jamaican music in South Asia.

‘Jamaica to India’ has party vibes and is a sound for the summer. It also has a Caribbean flair to it, honouring Gayle’s Jamaican heritage.

In the music video, the pair are seen rapping together in an apartment, surrounded by bikini-clad women.

While Gayle raps his lyrics in English, Emiway sticks to Hindi lyrics.

Chris Gayle had previously announced that he would be releasing a song with popular artist Emiway Bantai.

He had posted: “From Jamaica to India you know it’s Chris Gayle and Emiway Bantai bro, it was a pleasure meeting and working with you, you’re such a humble soul super talented and a true professional!

“I had a blast shooting our song together, can’t wait for it to drop!! Big respect.”

Since the success in India, Chris Gayle released the remix of ‘Choco Loco’ with Triple Century Records team member Camar Flava.

‘Choco Loco’ was originally released by Flava in late 2020.

Upon hearing it, Chris Gayle loved the track and insisted that a remix be made along with a music video.

In 2020, he collaborated with British singer Avina Shah to release ‘Groove‘.

It was a completely different style compared to ‘Jamaica to India’, offering a more pop style.
