“They are wrongfully blaming my mother for having affairs"

A video statement has surfaced online, featuring the daughters of Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Her daughters took an oath to confirm her mother’s completion of iddat before marrying Imran Khan.

Bushra was married to Khawar Maneka. After they divorced in 2017, she married Khan a year later.

This move came amid allegations that Bushra Bibi married Imran Khan without completing her iddat. This would render the marriage invalid.

In the video, the elder daughter stated that she had never appeared in the media before.

But now, she felt compelled to do so to set the record straight and address the allegations.

She said: “I have heard such bad things about my mother from people on the media. So bad that I have been having sleepless nights.”

“I never imagined that such a good and faithful woman would be treated in such a way.

“I don’t know if baba is being pressured to say all these things, but I just want to swear on the Quran and clear some things.”

“People say that she is involved in magic. And to associate someone, who only worships Allah, with magic is very unfair.

“I am swearing on Quran that Imran Khan did not see my mother’s face before their nikkah.

“Whenever he came to our house, my mother was covered from head to toe. She even wore gloves. We used to tell her that they looked funny but she wore them regardless.

“They are wrongfully blaming my mother for having affairs with Imran Khan before marriage. This is entirely untrue.”

She further praised her mother’s dedication to learning and practising religion, stating that she is passionate about helping others and spreading knowledge.

She expressed their support and solidarity with her mother, emphasising her belief in Bushra Bibi’s integrity and commitment to her faith.

The video statement aims to put the matter to rest. It provides a personal and emotional appeal to the public to respect her mother’s reputation and faith.

The video has gone viral on social media. The daughters’ decision to take a stand and defend their mother’s honour has been met with both support as well as criticism.

One user asked: “If she was such a religious woman, why did she even meet Imran Khan when they had no relationship?”

Another said: “Your mother divorced her husband who gave her a good life to marry a more successful man.

“Now so many girls are following her footsteps. Shame on you all.”

Others were more supportive.

A user wrote: “This is so shameful. Never in history have I seen such a case being filed against a woman.

“And a daughter having to do all of this is the most painful thing to see.”

Another added: “Everyday women get raped in Pakistan. Their perpetrators are not punished. And when two people follow law and Sunnah and establish Nikkah, they are jailed.”
