"You never know who you will inspire, so you must try your best.”
It’s a known fact that Bollywood actresses are big into fitness. Eating clean and going to the gym has been ingrained into their daily lives.
However, as many of these celebrities have their own social media accounts, this allows the public to have a greater glimpse into their fitness habits and routines.
Alia Bhatt, for example, uses Instagram regularly to show her fitness progress whether it’s through her Instagram stories, Boomerangs or short videos with motivational hashtags, like #TuesdayMotivation and #FitnessIsAJourney.
Her daily cardio on her Instagram story, which DESIblitz caught a glimpse of during IIFA 2017, shows that she is dedicated daily to her fitness routine.
Alia also gives a lot of credit on her posts to her celebrity personal trainer, Yasmin Karachiwala. Yasmin also trains the likes of Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor.
On her personal Instagram, you can see videos of Yasmin making these glamorous actresses sweat it out. Showing how much hard work is required to look as toned as they do.
As well as posting and reposting celebrities doing their workouts, she has also posted a series of exercise routines with the hashtag #BeFitWithYasminKarachiwala. This gives an opportunity for those at home to try her exciting exercises.
Fans can also see both Katrina and Alia train together regularly:
Many of the Bollywood actresses agree that this can be inspiring for people to see the progress celebrities are making, which can motivate themselves to hit the gym. Other celebrities admit how they themselves feel inspired.
Diya Mirza tells DESIblitz: “I enjoy it. It inspires you every day and pushes me and motivates me. Women are being celebrated.”
Bipasha Basu also agrees that it is important to inspire fitness and to #LoveYourself. She said: “It’s fantastic. You never know who you will inspire, so you must try your best.”
Bipasha motivates people with regular fitness quotes and has always maintained the reputation of being a fitness role model in Bollywood.
Another fitness role model who has used Instagram to take fitness promotion a notch higher is Shilpa Shetty. Shilpa has not only promoted fitness but the importance of healthy, balanced eating through her regular hashtags #ShilpaKaMantra. Her recent one really focusing eliminating sugar from the diet.
However, whilst eating healthy is key, Shilpa also understands how taking that vital day off for indulgences is key. Shilpa regularly posts her Cheat Sunday binges on her Instagram. She told DESIblitz about how this has become more than just a binge:
“I went to this place called Viva Mayr which is a detox clinic, for some me time. I soon realised that even someone who eats so clean can have stuff in their intestine. And that happens with the stuff that we eat, antibiotics so I decided to do a detox.
“Urged my fans who follow me on Instagram to do a detox with me and it’s really caught up! Sunday binges so much and people have loved it, it is my duty to say that while you enjoy your binges, detox. I will continue my binges though!”
Some actresses also believe that sharing their fitness regime on social media is a personal decision. And they can vary on whether this is something that they want to post.
Disha Patani believes that “it’s a personal choice”. Many contemporaries like herself are dedicated to hitting the gym and eating clean, yet she believes:
“I think it depends on person to person. Fitness is about you feeling good more than how your body looks like.”
Someone who had previously steered clear from fitness and even coming close to promoting it was Parineeti Chopra.
However, she pleasantly surprised everyone in the film fraternity when she revealed a sexier, super fit avatar on Twitter. This was with various photographs flaunting her killer body and motivational quotes.
Some were so motivating that fellow actresses like Athiya Shetty said that they were inspired to hit the gym after seeing this.
DESIblitz really enjoys seeing Bollywood actresses using social media to show their fitness regimes and inspiring others to get fit too!
It not only gives an insight into their daily lives but also makes everybody realise the amount of hard work and sheer dedication required to look as good as they do on screen!
