The West Bengal Motion Pictures Artists Forum has filed a formal complaint following the death of Rahul Banerjee.

This legal action follows the tragic death of the popular Bengali actor during a recent shoot.

Several prominent members of the local film industry joined together to demand a transparent and fair police investigation.

Rahul’s wife, Priyanka Sarkar, stood with the forum members outside the Regent Park police station during the press meet.

Senior actors like Prosenjit Chatterjee and Santilal Mukherjee were present to voice their deep concerns over the sudden tragedy.

A forum member said: “We want the real truth and exact circumstances behind the incident to come to light.”

The official statement from the forum confirmed that the actor passed away due to an accidental drowning in Talsari.

“On March 29, during the shooting of television serial Bholey Baba Par Karega at Talsari near Digha, our colleague and forum member, actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, tragically passed away due to an accidental drowning.”

The tragedy occurred while the cast and crew were filming for the television serial.

The forum had previously sought a legal clarification from the production house regarding the circumstances of the drowning accident.

“In this regard, the forum, on behalf of its members, sought legal advice to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Accordingly, a formal letter was sent to the production house on April 1 seeking clarification.

“However, the response received on April 2 was found to be unsatisfactory and inadequate.

“Since then, various opinions and concerns have also been expressed on social media regarding the incident.”

Following this response, many industry members held a massive protest march to show their solidarity and seek justice.

The procession began at the Technicians Studio and ended at Radha Studio, covering a distance of about one kilometre.

Many famous faces, including Aparna Sen and Anjan Dutt, led the rally while carrying placards that read Justice for Rahul.

Director Srijit Mukherjee and Kaushik Ganguly were also seen participating in the long walk to demand a thorough probe.

Actor Parambrata Chatterjee and Rudranil Ghosh also joined the industry-wide call for accountability from the show producers.

Other participants included Riddhi Sen and the well-known theatre personality Kaushik Sen, who walked through the city streets.
