"His dad and newborn baby’s photo shining bright"

Images of Balkaur Singh and his newborn son have appeared on a billboard in Times Square, New York.

Visuals of the late Sidhu Moose Wala with his father were also shown.

Side-by-side pictures featured Sidhu as a baby alongside the brother he will never get to meet, showing their resemblance.

Balkaur and his wife Charan Kaur have named the baby Shubhdeep after the singer, whose real name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu.

A fan shared a video of the billboard tribute, captioning the post:

“Big moment for Sidhu Moose Wala: His dad and newborn baby’s photo shining bright in New York’s Time Square.”

The post received over 200,000 likes and fans were happy to see the tribute in such an iconic location.

One commented: “Big moment for Times Square.”

Another said: “Born star… Pride of Punjab.”

A fan proclaimed that the “legend is back” while another called the newborn “lucky”.

Some fans left heart emojis while others wondered how much it cost to display the tribute in Times Square.

Balkaur Singh and Charan Kaur welcomed the newborn on March 17, 2024, after undergoing IVF treatment.

Announcing the birth, Balkaur wrote:

“With the blessings of millions of souls who love Shubhdeep, the Almighty has put Shubh’s younger brother in our group.

“With the blessings of Waheguru, the family is healthy and thankful to all the well-wishers for their immense love.”

However, Balkaur later claimed that he was being harassed by the Punjab government.

He said they have been questioning him to provide documents to prove the legitimacy of the child.

In a video, Balkaur said: “I want to request the government, especially Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, to allow for all treatments to be over.

“I belong here and will come to any place you call me (for questioning).”

A row over the matter has since broken out, with the Punjab government issuing a show cause notice to Health Secretary Ajoy Sharma for acting on the Centre’s request for a report on the IVF treatment Charan Kaur underwent without notifying the Chief Minister and the Health Minister.

Calling it a “serious lapse”, the Punjab government asked Sharma to show cause within two weeks as to why proceedings under the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969 should not be initiated against him.

The row is over how Charan was able to undergo IVF treatment despite the government’s Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act which imposes a strict age limit for IVF procedures.

Guidelines have an age range of 21-50 years for women and 21-55 years for men.
