"The engagement took place just a few days back."

According to reports, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stars Munmun Dutta and Raj Anadkat are engaged.

Munmun plays Babita Iyer in the long-running sitcom while Raj portrayed Tipendra from 2017 to 2022.

Rumours of the pair dating have been rife for years and now, News18 reported that they are now engaged.

According to a source, Munmun and Raj got engaged in a private ceremony in Gujarat earlier in March 2024 in front of their families.

The source claimed: “The engagement took place just a few days back.

“The two apparently exchanged rings in Vadodara (Gujarat). Munmun and Raj’s families have accepted their relationship and they were also present at the ceremony.

“They have been dating ever since Raj joined Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.

“It was very evident. Everyone on the sets knew about it.

“In fact, some people were certain that Munmun and Raj would get married eventually.

“Therefore, it is not shocking that they are engaged now.”

But the news turned out to be fake as Munmun Dutta broke her silence on the matter, calling the news “ridiculous”.

She told India Forums: “This is utterly ridiculous! There’s not an ounce of truth to any of this.

“I refuse to waste my energy and attention on such fake news.”

Raj has also posted a statement, writing:

“Just to clear things up, the news you’ve been seeing on social media is false and baseless.”

When dating rumours between Munmun and Raj circulated in 2021, Munmun strongly dismissed the speculation.

On social media, she wrote: “To everyone who has been constantly writing about me, think of the repercussions that can happen in my life because of your ‘cooked up’ stories and that too about my life without my consent.

“All the creative people out there please channelise your creativity somewhere else it will be helpful to you. May God bless them with good sense.”

In another post aimed the trolls who commented on her personal life, she said:

“13 years of entertaining people and it didn’t take 13 minutes for anyone of you to rip my dignity apart.

“So next time someone is clinically depressed or driven to take their own lives, pause and think whether it was your words that drove that person to the edge or not.

“Today, I am ashamed of calling myself a daughter of India.”
