"It's a fresh new feeling for me all over again."
Arbaaz Khan has confirmed he is expecting a child with wife Sshura Khan, talking about becoming a father again at 57.
The actor spoke candidly about fatherhood after a video of Sshura outside a Mumbai clinic sparked speculation due to her visible baby bump.
The couple had not announced a pregnancy until now.
Arbaaz confirmed: “Yes, it is there.
“I’m not denying that information because right now it’s something that is out there, my family knows about it.
“People have got to know about it, and it’s fine. It’s pretty evident also. It’s a very exciting time in both our lives. We are happy and excited. We’re going to welcome this new life in our life.”
Arbaaz, who has a 22-year-old son named Arhaan with ex-wife Malaika Arora, admitted he is nervous about becoming a father again after such a long gap.
He continued: “Everybody tends to be nervous. Any person would feel (the nerves); I’m also getting into fatherhood now after some time.
“It’s a fresh new feeling for me all over again. I’m excited. I’m happy and I’m looking forward. It’s just giving me a new sense of happiness or responsibility. I’m kind of liking that.”
Sshura has mostly stayed away from the limelight, but the couple have been seen together at public events.
One recent sighting outside Arpita Khan Sharma’s newly opened Mumbai restaurant went viral when Arbaaz was heard telling paparazzi:
“Please try to understand, you should let it go too.”
He made the request after photographers asked Sshura to pose to show her bump more clearly.
Reflecting on what kind of parent he hopes to be, the Dabangg actor said:
“There are no categories.
“You just have to be like a parent who is good.”
“A good parent is someone who’s around for their child, who’s attentive, who’s probably caring, loving and is doing the best to provide to the child.
“That’s all that I want to be.”
The couple’s relationship became public shortly after Arbaaz’s breakup with Giorgia Andriani. He was previously married to Malaika from 1998 until their divorce in 2017.
Arbaaz Khan added: “I am looking forward to it and it is giving me a new sense of happiness and responsibility. I am kind of liking that.”
