Arbaaz Khan defends 25-year Age Gap with Wife Shura Khan

Arbaaz Khan came out and defended the 25-year age difference between him and his wife Shura Khan.

The actor caused a surprise when he married the makeup artist on Christmas Eve 2023, having kept their relationship quiet for almost a year.

They met on the set of Arbaaz’s production Patna Shukla.

Arbaaz shared that he and Shura did not marry in a “hurry” and decided to spend a lot of time with each other when they were dating.

He explained: “Though my wife is much younger than me, it is not like she is 16 years old.

“She knew what she wanted in her life, and I knew what I wanted in my life.

“We spent a lot of time together in that one year to really see what we expect out of each other, what do we want, and how are we looking at our future. Such decisions are not made in a hurry.”

While Arbaaz and Shura received congratulatory messages, some trolled the couple over their age gap.

Arbaaz is 58 while Shura celebrated her 31st birthday on January 18, 2024.

Despite the comments, the couple are not affected. Arbaaz said:

“It’s not like we were not aware of it or we hid it from each other.

“As a girl, she knew what she was getting into, and as a man, I knew what I was getting into.

“Two people of the same age can be together and probably separate in a year.

“So, is age the only factor that keeps relationships going? Ask yourself.

“In fact, whenever you see there is a very big age gap between marriages, they have far higher success rate.”

When they were dating, Arbaaz’s family were unaware.

“Initially, they didn’t know. They knew I was just meeting someone, but when they realised that this is a huge step that I am taking, they were more than happy.

“In moments like these, you have the support of your loved ones because they know these decisions are made between two mature people.”

Arbaaz Khan was previously in a relationship with Giorgia Andriani.

The pair broke up but at around the same time as Arbaaz’s marriage to Shura, Giorgia began speaking about their relationship.

Reacting to Giorgia’s interviews, Arbaaz said:

“The timing of somebody speaking about a breakup just around the time I was getting married and post my marriage, seems a little inappropriate.

“If you have broken up almost two years back and you didn’t have the option to speak about it then, then to speak about it now, doesn’t seem right.”

He also felt that Giorgia should not have discussed their relationship.

“The world knew I was dating this person, now he has moved on, I have moved on, probably he is seeing someone else at this point and it is not appropriate for me to talk.

“I don’t know what may have compelled somebody to do that, but now all is well and one wishes people who were in the past well as well.”
