"Well played 'Abhishek Bachchan'."
Amitabh Bachchan led the online celebrations after India clinched their record-extending ninth Asia Cup title in Dubai, defeating Pakistan by five wickets in a tense T20 final.
While Tilak Varma starred with the bat and Kuldeep Yadav struck with the ball, it was the veteran actor’s witty reaction that added humour to the victory.
Amitabh appeared to post a playful jab at Pakistan, writing in Hindi:
“T 5516(i) – We won!!
“Well played ‘Abhishek Bachchan’… over there the tongue faltered, and here, without batting, bowling or fielding, the enemy was made to falter!!
“Everyone was left speechless!! Jai Hind! Jai Bharat! Jai Maa Durga!!!!”
The remark was aimed at a viral gaffe by former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar.
During a pre-match television segment, Shoaib mistakenly said “Abhishek Bachchan” instead of Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma while discussing Pakistan’s strategy.
He asked: “If Pakistan manage to get Abhishek Bachchan out in a hypothetical situation, what happens to India’s middle order?”
Shoaib quickly corrected himself.
The blunder was shared on social media, sparking a wave of memes and jokes.
Abhishek Bachchan also joined the conversation with a self-deprecating reply.
He posted: “Sir, with all due respect… don’t think they’ll even manage that!
“And I’m not even good at playing cricket.”

Amitabh Bachchan’s quip reinforced his reputation for engaging with audiences online.
Known for his legendary career spanning more than five decades, he continues to enjoy relevance beyond the silver screen.
From classics like Sholay and Deewar to recent roles in Kalki 2898 AD and Vettaiyan, he remains one of Bollywood’s most enduring figures.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan was last seen in Housefull 5.
On the cricket field, India’s performance was equally dramatic.
Pakistan’s bowlers struck early to leave India under pressure, but Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 69 and Shivam Dube’s composed innings steadied the chase.
Kuldeep Yadav’s four-wicket haul dismantled Pakistan’s batting, paving the way for India’s comfortable finish.
As fans celebrated the victory, Amitabh Bachchan’s playful jab ensured that the conversation extended far beyond the cricket pitch.
His words gave the win a cultural edge, underlining how cricket in the subcontinent is as much about drama off the field as it is about performance on it.
