"The real champions are those working every day"
Retired boxer and humanitarian Amir Khan will receive the prestigious Special Award for Philanthropy at the 2024 Asian Achievers Awards.
Now in its 22nd year, the Asian Achievers Awards recognises the success and contributions of British Asians across various fields.
From business and entrepreneurship to media, sports and philanthropy, the awards honour individuals who have achieved excellence and positively impacted society.
The event takes place at the Hilton, London Park Lane on September 20.
The awards shortlist was announced in August 2024 and now Amir Khan will be honoured with the Special Award for Philanthropy.
He will be recognised for his efforts to give back to society, particularly through his work via the Amir Khan Foundation in emergency response and development projects in the UK and globally.
As one of Britain’s most iconic athletes, Khan has used his platform to champion causes close to his heart.
Founded in 2014, the Amir Khan Foundation has led numerous initiatives, whether at home or abroad.
From the building of orphanages in Africa to disaster relief following the 2015 floods in England, the Amir Khan Foundation is firmly rooted in service to vulnerable communities everywhere.
Speaking about the honour, Khan said:
“It’s a privilege to be recognised for the work I’ve always felt deeply passionate about.
“The real champions are those working every day to improve the lives of others, and I’m proud to play my part in that.
“This award is recognition for all those who have supported my foundation in the last decade and the brilliant team who work tirelessly on the ground.”
The Asian Achievers Awards have long celebrated the spirit of philanthropy and social impact, and Khan’s commitment to improving lives through his foundation, alongside his personal involvement in various community projects, embodies the values of this esteemed award.
Pratik Dattani, Director of the Asian Achievers Awards, added:
“Amir Khan is a true role model, not just for his achievements in sport but for the way he has dedicated himself to serving those in need.”
“His philanthropy transcends borders, and his efforts to bring positive change to communities worldwide make him a deserving recipient of this award.”
The awards ceremony will be hosted by former EastEnders star Nitin Ganatra and news presenter Anila Dhami.
It promises to be a night of celebration, honouring Amir Khan and other exceptional individuals who have significantly impacted society in various fields.
