Amir Khan shocked fans for posing with gun-wielding men in Pakistan.

The retired boxer caused controversy after sharing a picture with nine men, six of whom were armed with assault rifles.

The group posed in front of a fleet of cars that served as part of an escort to his destination.

Dubbing the group “Team Khan” and his “squad”, the picture was taken while Amir was travelling in Islamabad for charity work.

He was in the country for The Amir Khan Foundation.

After leaving Pakistan, Amir wrote on Instagram:

“Pakistan has been amazing, thank you for the support and love.

“I was very blessed to do charity for the people in Pakistan during this blessed month of Ramadan.

“This wouldn’t be possible without everyone’s generous donations to the Amir Khan Foundation.”

However, wife Faryal Makhdoom was seemingly unimpressed and commented:

“Do you think you’re a gangster?”

Fans appeared to echo her sentiment and shared their disappointment.

One wrote: “This picture says a million things about Pakistan.

“It’s either this country is absolutely lawless or you are trying to show off.”

A netizen wondered: “Is Pakistan that dangerous?”

Another asked: “Why all the guns?”

Hitting out at Amir Khan, a user said:

“This guy is so cocky.”

Another stated: “You along with Pakistani police posing like a mafia.”

One made fun of Amir and said:

“Posing like a gangster with your bodyguards.”

Some users said the armed group was unnecessary given that Amir is a former boxer, with one saying:

“Come on, you’re Amir Khan, your weapons are your fists.”

Another user agreed and said:

“Pakistan is a safe country, Amir Khan you can defend yourself you are a boxer.”

One user used the opportunity to mock Amir’s choice of outfit for the occasion, writing:

“And he stands there in joggers lol could have made an effort at least.”

Others defended Amir Khan’s decision to have an armed group, with one saying it is “normal protocol”.

The comment read: “Some comments on here talking about the safety of being in Pakistan.

“This is just normal protocol with every rich or political person to be fair anyone can get security if you can pay for it.

“Looking good and doing a great job with the foundation work.”

The controversial picture comes nearly two years after Amir Khan was robbed of his £72,000 watch at gunpoint after leaving a London restaurant.
