"I went up to her and she's a very lovely woman."

Since starring in Netflix’s One Day, Ambika Mod has gained a legion of new fans and among them is Kim Kardashian.

The Brit became a household name when she played Emma in the highly-anticipated Netflix adaptation of David Nicholls’ romantic drama, One Day.

The series was a huge hit and was praised by the likes of Kim Kardashian.

Ambika and Kim’s bond has gone further and they enjoyed a chat at the 2024 Met Gala.

Ambika shared details of her conversation with the reality star at the Newport Beach Film Festival where she was one of the honourees alongside Stephen Fry, Emma Corrin, Joe Alwyn and Sharon Horgan.

The event was a stressful one for Ambika as she said:

“It’s a nonstop day, like you’re up and you’re getting ready from the crack of dawn and then you’re on the carpet and then you’re inside and everywhere you turn is the most famous person you’ve ever seen in your life.

“Yeah, it’s very, very stressful. I’m sort of like if I go again, I’ll have my bearings about me a bit more.”

Despite the stress, Ambika took the opportunity to chat with Kim Kardashian.

Revealing she initiated the conversation, Ambika said:

“She [Kim] posted about One Day on her [Instagram] Story, so I went up to her and she’s a very lovely woman.”

At the Met Gala, Ambika met so many people but speaking to Kim was “a highlight”.

Following on from a successful 2024, Ambika Mod has several projects lined up for 2025, including her first film titled Sacrifice.

She said: “It’s a really fun film, really amazing cast, directed by Roman Abras.”

Meanwhile, Netflix viewers have said they “absolutely refuse” to rewatch One Day a year after it left many devastated.

The series was released on February 8, 2024.

At the time, many viewers said they’d become “emotional wrecks” and a year on, many have declared they cannot rewatch the series over concerns it might spark the same reactions.

One commented: “Now that it is February, it has been a year since a sixteen-year slow-burn romance left me ruined and empty for weeks.”

Another added: “One year since Netflix unleashed the most heartbreaking trauma on the world and I’m still not over it.”
