“Brown Sauce has been brilliant at spotlighting comedic talent"
Brown Sauce has announced a major comedy showcase for July 2026, bringing some of the biggest South Asian names in British stand-up to Theatre Royal Stratford East.
Taking place on July 15, the one-night event is part of the theatre’s South Asian Summer programme.
Headlining the evening is Ahir Shah, alongside fellow comedians Shazia Mirza, Mark Silcox and Sharlin Jahan. Hosting duties will be handled by Preet Singh.
The event also continues Brown Sauce’s annual charity partnership with South Asian Heritage Trust, the organisation behind South Asian Heritage Month, which runs from July 1–31. The 2026 theme is “Unity in Diversity.”
Tickets are available through the theatre’s website.
Ahir Shah remains one of the UK comedy circuit’s most celebrated performers.
The Edinburgh Comedy Award winner has appeared on shows including Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, QI and Have I Got News For You.
His latest show, Ends, was praised as “the most important stand-up of the decade” before later becoming a global Netflix special.
Shah previously headlined Brown Sauce’s inaugural Comedy Lab showcase in 2024.
He said: “Brown Sauce has been brilliant at spotlighting comedic talent, and I – old comic talent (?) – am thrilled to be performing at their biggest show to date.”
Joining him is Shazia Mirza, whose stand-up has built a reputation for tackling culture, politics and identity through sharp humour and personal storytelling.
Mark Silcox will also appear on the line-up.
The comedian and actor is widely recognised as Joe Lycett’s sidekick on Got Your Back. His screen credits also include Big Boys, Man Like Mobeen, Mandy and A Whole Lifetime With Jamie Demetriou.
Brown Sauce founder Sharlin Jahan will also perform during the evening.
The comedian, who is also a Funny Women finalist, launched the comedy platform in 2021.

Since then, Brown Sauce has become one of London’s leading South Asian comedy nights, mixing established acts with emerging talent from across the UK scene.
Past performers include Eshaan Akbar, Shabaz Ali, Nish Kumar, Mawaan Rizwan, Sindhu Vee, Atsuko Okatsuka, Ria Lina, Kiran Deol, Bilal Zafar, Fatiha El-Ghorri and Joshua Bethania.
Beyond its live shows, Brown Sauce has also raised thousands for charitable causes and runs one of the UK’s first annual South Asian comedy labs designed to support emerging performers.
The platform has additionally partnered with major cultural brands, including a sold-out collaboration with Dishoom.
Sharlin Jahan said: “ A South Asian gig during South Asian Heritage month at the iconic Stratford East, taking place in the most diverse borough in the UK. Yes, please!”
Martin Willis, Programming Associate at Stratford East, added:
“Brown Sauce is an institution on the comedy circuit, so it was a no-brainer to bring it into our South Asian Summer at the theatre, where it will sit alongside a host of other phenomenal performances.”
