The Pakistani drama industry is known for its emotionally charged love stories, land feuds, and jealous family and friends.

Nearly almost the entirety of Pakistani dramas are popular due to the casting, especially in the lead roles.

Many dramas are watched because fan favourite stars are cast to be the main protagonists.

Many actresses have built a successful name for themselves within the industry but some have left showbiz after getting married and having children.

This is to become fully immersed in their new roles at home or to go down a different route which does not take too much time away from their family.

Here are five Pakistani actresses who quit showbiz after marriage.

Sanam Chaudhry began her acting career in 2013 and quickly became one of the most sought-after actresses.

After a successful run in the showbiz industry, Sanam married Somee Chohan in a simple Nikah ceremony in 2019.

It was noted that she was not acting anymore and many fans asked her on social media when she would be making her comeback.

Sanam briefly announced the birth of her son Shahveer and wished to be fully present in her child’s upbringing, especially during the early years.

After a notable period of absence, a much-changed Sanam appeared on Instagram wearing a headscarf and stated that she had left her acting career.

Sanam revealed that after marriage, she had become closer to her religion and did not wish to make a television comeback.

She has since left social media.

Some of her best work includes titles such as Aasmanon Pay Likha, Aab Dekh Khuda Kya Karta Hai, Mere Meherbaan and Badnaam.

Aiman Khan started her career in 2012 in the drama serial Mohabbat Bhaar Main Jaaye but achieved fame in the 2013 serial Meri Beti.

Aiman appeared in the 2018 serial Baandi and played Meeru, who is hired by a rich household to work as a maid, to escape the wandering eye of a corrupt landlord in her village.

The drama progresses when her employer’s son, Wali (Muneeb Butt) falls in love with her and begins a journey to help her progress in life to escape the cruelties she faces.

Baandi was the last show Aiman appeared in before she married Muneeb Butt in an extravagant wedding ceremony complete with multiple functions.

She has since given birth to two daughters and is yet to return to acting.

Muneeb faced accusations that he did not want his wife to return to acting.

He clarified that it was up to Aiman whether or not she wanted to return to the Pakistani showbiz industry.

Sanam Baloch

Sanam Baloch is another Pakistani actress who was a joy to watch in the likes of Dastaan, Kankar, Dur-e-Shehwar and Khaas.

Alongside acting, Sanam also tried her hand at hosting morning shows and once again she proved herself a success in this field too.

In April 2018, divorce rumours began circulating and Sanam maintained a dignified silence until October of the same year when she confirmed she had separated from her husband.

Since then, Sanam was rarely seen on television and many of her fans took to her social media to query if she would be coming back to showbiz.

In August 2020, Sanam announced that she had re-married and is now the mother of a girl named Amaya, but did not give any further information regarding the matter.

She has not been acting since and it is unclear if she will make a comeback to the industry.

Ainy Jaffri

Although Ainy Jaffri did not make many drama appearances, she surely left a mark in the handful of television shows that she acted in.

She was most recognised for her role in the intense serial Aseerzadi which revolved around a family tradition in which the third wife of the family men would only give birth to their children.

Maira (Ainy) marries into the same household as a second wife and breaks the norm when it is revealed that she is pregnant.

Apart from a selection of drama serials, Ainy has made film appearances in the likes of Balu Mahi and Mein Hoon Shahid Afridi.

Ainy got married in 2014 and took a four-year acting hiatus in 2018.

She announced she would make her acting return in the ZEE5 web series Mandi. However, it is not known what the show’s status is.

Aisha Khan

Aisha Khan is best known for her role as Jeena in Mann Mayal but has appeared in shows such as Mehndi, Muqadas, Badi Aapa and Khuda Mera Bhi Hai.

In March 2018, Aisha announced her showbiz retirement as she was ready to step into the next phase of her life.

A month later, it was revealed that she had married Major Uqbah Hadeed Malik.

She has since moved to the UK with her husband and the pair have a daughter.

From time to time, Aisha shares pictures of herself and her daughter in adorable matching outfits.

These five Pakistani actresses have walked away from acting for different reasons, whether it is temporary or permanent.

Nevertheless, their acting performances were much-loved among audiences.
