"Let’s just get the facts straight"
Zayn addressed a viral video which appeared to show him swearing at fans as he left a hotel in Manchester.
The singer was filmed by TMZ trying to get to his car whilst a crowd surrounded him.
As Zayn struggled to reach his vehicle, he can be heard saying “get the f**k out of the way”.
The footage went viral and reports claimed he “snapped” at fans.
Zayn has since broken his silence on the matter, insisting that the crowd blocking his path were “stalkers” and not genuine fans.
He commented: “Let’s just get the facts straight – the fans were and always are respectful and amazing.
“The issue was the multiple fully grown men that were blocking the doors of the hotel and the car for 10 minutes, not letting us or security out.”
Stating that they were stalkers, Zayn added: “They are not fans.
“They are stalkers that show up wherever someone they want to meet is and do the same thing to everyone to try and to get content.”
The incident and subsequent clarification came shortly after his performance in Manchester, which was part of his UK tour.
Zayn was recently forced to cancel US tour dates following a hospitalisation linked to an undisclosed illness. The cancellations led to concern among fans and a temporary step back from promotional activity.
In a message shared on Instagram at the time, Zayn thanked supporters for their messages and addressed his health.
“To my fans: Thank you so much for all the support and love you’ve shown me on the album release and more importantly your love, prayers, and well wishes for my health.
“I’ve felt it, and it’s meant the world.”
“I’ve been at home recovering and I’m doing well and will be better and stronger than before.
“I’ve had to take another look at my schedule for the months ahead and have to reduce the number of shows on the KONNAKOL Tour.
“I want to make sure I still get out and see as many of you as I possibly can.
“I’m really looking forward to playing these shows for you, and I hope to see the rest of you around the world very soon. Big Love, Z.”
The tour is set to continue in June with dates in Mexico, before moving on to South America in October. Zayn first revealed news of his illness on April 17, the same day he released his album KONNAKOL.
