"Please remember him in your prayers."
On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, Zaira Wasim announced that her father had died.
The former Bollywood actress wrote on X: “My father, Zahid Wasim, has passed away.

Zaira Wasim began her acting career in Nitesh Tiwari’s Dangal (2016).
In the sports biopic, she portrayed the younger version of Geeta Phogat.
Geeta was one of the daughters of Mahavir Singh Phogat (Aamir Khan).
Zaira won universal acclaim for her performance. In 2017, she won a National Award for her role.
The star reunited with Aamir in Advait Chandan’s Secret Superstar (2017), in which she played the leading role of Insia ‘Insu’ Malik.
In 2019, she starred in The Sky is Pink as Aisha Chaudhary, along with Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Farhan Akhtar.
But prior to the film’s release, Zaira announced that she had quit her acting career.
She said in a statement: “As I stepped my foot in Bollywood, it opened doors of massive popularity for me.
“I started to become the prime candidate of public attention.
“I was projected as the gospel of the idea of success and was often identified as a role model for the youth.
“However, that’s never something that I set out to do or become, especially with regards to my ideas of success and failure, which I had just started to explore and understand.”
“I want to confess that I am not truly happy with this identity i.e., my line of work.
“As I had just started to explore and make sense of the things to which I dedicated my time, efforts and emotions and tried to grab hold of a new lifestyle, it was only for me to realise that though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here.”
On February 16, 2024, Zaira’s Dangal co-star Suhani Bhatnagar also passed away aged 19.
Reacting to the news, Zaira Wasim said: “I’m shocked beyond words by the news of Suhani Bhatnagar’s passing.
“My heart goes out to her family during this incredibly difficult time.
“The thought of what her parents must be experiencing fills me with so much sorrow.
“Utterly speechless. My heartfelt condolences.”
