YouTuber Rajab Butt, known for his extravagant lifestyle, was arrested on December 15, 2024, in Lahore.
The arrest followed a raid conducted by the police in collaboration with the Wildlife Department at his residence in the Chuhng area.
Butt was accused of illegal possession of firearms and keeping a lion cub at his home.
The lion cub, reportedly gifted to Butt during his recent wedding celebrations, was seized during the operation.
Authorities confirmed that the YouTuber lacked the required license to possess the exotic animal, which sparked widespread criticism on social media.
A spokesperson for the Punjab Police stated that a First Information Report (FIR) was filed.
They said Butt had been transferred to a local police station for further investigation.
The arrest has drawn significant public attention, particularly due to the lavish nature of his wedding to Emaan Rajab.
The wedding was marked by opulence, featuring extravagant gifts such as a gold-plated iPhone and a bouquet of dollar bills.
They also included an all-expenses-paid Umrah trip for the couple’s entire family.
Videos showcasing these gifts went viral, drawing mixed reactions.
While some fans admired the grandeur, others criticised it as a vulgar display of wealth.
The inclusion of the lion cub as a gift has especially ignited outrage, with many calling it an act of animal cruelty.
Critics have lambasted the use of a wild animal as a symbol of status, deeming it unethical and irresponsible.
One social media user remarked: “This behaviour is shameless and promotes animal abuse.”
The controversy has also reignited debates about influencer culture and the glamorisation of extravagant lifestyles.
Some argued that audiences share the blame for encouraging such displays, while others condemned influencers for prioritising appearances over meaningful contributions.
The viral photos of Rajab Butt’s arrest added another layer of debate, with some criticising their circulation as invasive.
