"The film world is a lie."

Kangana Ranaut opened up about her future in Bollywood after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The star is currently running for a seat in the Mandi constituency.

She suggested she may quit her acting career if she wins the position.

When asked directly if she would leave the industry if she is successful, she bluntly replied: “Yes.”

Kangana elaborated: “The film world is a lie – everything there is fake.

“They create a very different environment.

“It is a glossy world like a fake bubble which is to attract the audience. This is the reality.

“I am a very passionate person. I never wanted to do a job because I had to.

“Even in films I start writing, and when I get bored of playing a role, I direct or produce, so I have a very fertile mind and I want to be passionately engaged.”

When she was reminded that her decision to quit films would disappoint many fans, Kangana Ranaut said:

“Yes, a lot of filmmakers tell me, ‘Please don’t go, we have one great heroine’.

“I act well, and it is a great compliment. I take it in my stride.”

Nevertheless, Kangana also shed light on her upcoming work. She explained:

“I have several films in the pipeline, including Emergency, Sita: The Incarnation which is a trilogy, Noti Binodini which is a biopic, and a thriller with Madhavan.

“I am committed to completing these projects.”

It was recently announced that the release of Kangana’s film Emergency had been postponed yet again.

This was due to her involvement in the aforementioned elections.

The film was set to be released on June 14, 2024.

Taking to Instagram, Kangana’s production banner – Manikarnika Films – said:

“Our hearts are filled with love pouring in for our queen Kangana Ranaut.

“As she prioritises her duty to the nation and her commitment to serve the country, the release date of our much-awaited film Emergency has been postponed.

“We promise to update you soon with a new release date.”

“Thank you for your continued support.”

Kangana will star as Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. She has also produced and directed the film.

Emergency will also feature Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, and the late Satish Kaushik in key roles.

Kangana Ranaut was last seen in Tejas (2023), which was a critical and commercial failure.
