"What a year 2022 has been."

Music streaming platform Spotify on November 30, 2022, launched its Spotify Wrapped campaign for the year.

Other than letting users and creators get personalised statistics of their activity, the campaign also unveils the top artists, songs, albums, and podcasts on Spotify for 2022.

Globally Taylor Swift, BTS and The Weekend dominate the ranks.

But who are the singers most popular among Indian users?

In India, Arijit Singh continues to be the most streamed artist on Spotify in the country for the third consecutive year.

Pritam comes second in the list, while maestro A. R. Rahman has taken the third spot this year.

‘Excuses’ by AP Dhillon, Intense, and Gurinder Gill was the most-streamed song on Spotify in India, with over 190,000 streams in the year.

Others were ‘Pasoori’ by Shae Gill and Ali Sethi, ‘Kesariya’ by Pritam, Arijit Singh and Amitabh Bhattacharya, ShubhMusic’s ‘No Love’ and ‘Chaand Baaliyan’ by Aaditya A.

The late Sidhu Moosewala’s Moosetape was the most-streamed album in India, followed by Shershaah, AP Dhillon’s Hidden Gems, Kabir Singh, and Pritam’s Brahmastra.

This year’s most-popular editorial playlist was Hot Hits Hindi, which is followed by more than 11,000 listeners.

The Sex Podcast by Leeza Mangaldas is the most streamed podcast on Spotify in India this year, followed by The Mythpat Podcast, The Ranveer Show, Chanakya Niti, and On Purpose with Jay Shetty.

The streaming service said: “There’s no single way to define what a year 2022 has been.

“Coming back after a few years of uncertainty has led each of us to create a “new normal” in our relationships to culture—and to each other.”

This year, Spotify Wrapped introduced a multitude of new features.

The streaming service is not only giving users a wrap of their listening journey in 2022 but also telling them what ‘Listening Personality Type’ they belong to.

Spotify also has an interactive story called Audio Day, that lets users see how their musical tastes evolved throughout the day.

According to Spotify, “Audio Day showcases the niche moods and aesthetic descriptors of the music you listened to during morning, midday, and evening time periods.”

For this year’s Wrapped hub, Spotify introduced new elements and ways for users to discover their listening history.

Released annually in early December since 2016, the campaign allows Spotify users to view their activity on the platform and invites them to share it on social media.
