One of the most eagerly-awaited events in the calendars of all fashion followers in India, Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI 2023 recently concluded.
The shows gave us a glimpse at all the trends we would be seeing in the coming months.
Along with a host of new designers, we got to see many familiar names make a comeback on the runway, like Namrata Joshipura and Anavila.
From new frontiers of sustainability to a return to classic, old-school high-glamour fashion by the masters, there was something for everybody.
It wouldn’t be Lakmé Fashion Week without a healthy sprinkling of celebrities.
Here are all the major moments that you might have missed.
Sobhita Dhulipala turned showstopper for ace designer Tarun Tahiliani at Lakmé Fashion Week.
The designer showcased his latest collection during the fashion week, and Sobhita closed the show for him.
She wore a sizzling red look from Tarun Tahiliani’s latest spring/summer collection.
Her stunning hot red gown featured a plunging V neckline baring her décolletage, broad straps on the shoulders and a draped criss-cross silhouette on the bodice.
It also had corseted boning with sheer panels and embellishments on the midriff, gathered elements on the waist, a figure-hugging fit, floor-sweeping hem, a cut-out on the back, and long trains on the back.
Sobhita accessorised the ensemble with minimal additions, including strappy high heels, dangling earrings, and matching rings.
Diana Penty closed the show for designer Disha Patil.
Diana wore a modern silver lehenga featuring a bralette-style blouse, embellished lehenga and a pretty ivory net veil.
While the blouse has double straps, a plunging V neckline, cropped hem and sequin embellishments, the lehenga comes with floral applique work, shimmering sequins, and a layered ghera.
Diana styled the lehenga set with a diamond and emerald necklace, matching rings, dainty earrings and centre-parted open wavy locks.
For makeup, Diana wore smoky eye shadow, winged eyeliner, a brown lip shade, feathered brows, blushed cheekbones and beaming highlighter.
Tara Sutaria walked the ramp for bridal couture and designer label Annu’s Creation.
Tara Sutaria’s rani pink lehenga comes with a short choli, a multi-layered heavy lehenga and a chiffon dupatta.
The sleeveless blouse features sequin embellishments, intricate beadwork in floral patterns, a plunging sweetheart neckline and a cropped hem length.
The lehenga has patchwork, sequinned work, broad patti borders, tassel-adorned dori ties, and an A-line silhouette.
Tara teamed the outfit with a chiffon embellished dupatta, heels, statement rings, a heavy choker necklace, bangles, and matching earrings
Sushmita Sen walked the ramp at the Lakmé Fashion Week X FDC (Fashion Design Council Of India) on March 11.
Sushmita surprised her fans as she had recently suffered a heart attack and was recovering from it.
The actress turned showstopper for designer Anushree Reddy and wore a yellow embellished lehenga for the occasion.
Sushmita Sen’s lehenga set featured an embellished choli, a matching heavily-embellished lehenga and a net dupatta draped elegantly around her body.
She styled the traditional silhouette with earrings, a necklace, rings, heels, and a dainty bindi.
Sushmita’s fans showered her with love by commenting on the video posted by the official Instagram account of Lakmé Fashion Week.

Sara Ali Khan turned showstopper for Punit Balana in a beautifully embroidered lehenga set featuring intricate embroidered and applique additions – a signature style statement followed by the designer.
Sara’s lehenga set comes with a gorgeous choli with a plunging V neckline flaunting her décolletage, quarter-length sleeves, midriff-baring short hem, gold taar embroidery, sequin work, and brocade embroidery.
She styled it with a lehenga featuring a gota patti borders on the trims, brocade work, heavily embellished tassel tied on the side, and a layered ghera.

Fans loved Sara’s traditional look and flooded the comments section with praise.
Shanaya Kapoor closed the show for designer Arpita Mehta, who showcased her latest Summer collection inspired by a summery holiday mood.
The designer’s latest line masterfully blends floral, and geometric prints and bright pops of colour to create an array of looks.
Regarding the design elements of Arpita Mehta’s yellow ensemble that Shanaya wore, it comes with a tube blouse and a pre-draped saree.
The saree has a floor-sweeping pleated pallu, a mermaid-style silhouette, and shimmering sequin embellishments.
She wore it with a matching tube blouse featuring a plunging neckline, cropped midriff-baring hem, sequin work, and a fitted bust.
Athiya Shetty turned showstopper for designer Namrata Joshipura, whose latest collection celebrates modern fabrics and sparkles that are the ‘wink and a nod’ to a post-modern disco elegance.
She wore a purple sequinned jumpsuit featuring a plunging V neckline, cut-outs on the waist, embellished sheer cape sleeves attached on the back, flared hems, and a figure-accentuating silhouette.
Lastly, centre-parted open wavy locks, fuchsia pink lips, blushed dewy base, mascara on the lashes, and light contouring gave the finishing touch.
Taapsee Pannu closed the show for Monisha Jaising, who showcased her latest collection at Lakmé Fashion Week.
Taapsee wore a bright-red coloured embellished gown, inspired by a laid-back yet luxuriously embellished elegance, to walk the ramp as the showstopper for the designer.
It features a deep V neckline reaching till the waist, a fit and flared fitting with a layered A-line skirt, heavy diamantes decorated in abstract patterns, and a floor-grazing hem.
Open curly hair, a heavy choker necklace, soft glam, and a nude lip shade rounded it all off.
Rashmika Mandanna turned showstopper for JJ Valaya’s latest collection Kapurthala.
The actor wore a sleeveless high-neck corset blouse and a silk saree to close the show.
Her six yards came in the designer’s signature print, beautified with a unique draping technique, statement earrings, matching bracelets, rings, pointed gold stilettos, and a sleek hairdo.
Lastly, she chose bold smoky eye shadow, nude lip shade, kohl-lined eyes, and a dewy base for the glam picks.
Bollywood’s OG fashionista Malaika Arora also turned showstopper at the fashion show for Bhumika Sharma.
The star closed the show dressed in a bralette, sharara and cape jacket set from Bhumika Sharma’s new line.
The red-coloured ensemble comes with a bralette, sharara pants and a cape jacket.
While the bralette features straps, a plunging neckline, heavy embroidery, a fitted bust and cropped hem, the pants have a high-rise waist and a fit-and-flare silhouette.

Ananya Panday closed the show for Bollywood’s favourite designer Manish Malhotra, alongside her rumoured boyfriend Aditya Roy Kapur.
While Ananya chose a strapless bodycon gown and coordinated floor-sweeping jacket, Aditya complemented her in a black suit.
The two stars served a fierce walk on the ramp and even posed together for the paparazzi.

The designer celebrated one year of Diffuse with his collection which aims to redefine the rules of fashion with new-age prints representing individuality, non-binary, fluidity and androgynous styles.
Lakmé Fashion Week is recognised for its celebrity showstoppers.
Some of the cast members of Netflix’s Class, namely Anjali Sivaraman, Piyush Khati, Zeyn Shaw and Cwaayal Singh, also made their runway debuts in Lakmé Fashion Week.
But one of the biggest highlights of the fashion week was veteran actor and emerging Instagram superstar Zeenat Aman walking for Shahin Mannan.
