"BuzzBallz delivers authentic cocktail strength"
BuzzBallz are everywhere. You’ve likely spotted the colourful orbs in the hands of Brits basking in the sun, heading to a festival, or just cracking one open on the way to a party.
They look more like novelty sweets than boozy beverages, with names like “Strawberry ’Rita” and “Choc Tease”, but these palm-sized, cocktail-ready drinks pack a punch at over 10% ABV.
Born in Texas and now booming across the UK, BuzzBallz are being embraced as the must-have drink of summer, especially by Generation Z.
The eye-catching round cans hit UK shelves in 2022, but their popularity exploded after US drinks giant Sazerac acquired the brand in early 2024.
The deal, reportedly worth over $500 million, supercharged distribution and visibility across the UK.
Jess Scheerhorn, vice president at BuzzBallz and Sazerac Emerging Portfolio, said:
“In just 12 weeks, BuzzBallz climbed to become the #18 RTD brand by volume in the UK and is now the fastest-growing brand within the top 20.”
She credited the rise to the drinks’ striking look, high alcohol content and convenience.
“Our vibrant, playful flavours and iconic round shape are made for on-the-go lifestyles that resonate with our Gen Z audience.
“BuzzBallz delivers authentic cocktail strength in a convenient, grab-and-go format, perfect for those who crave both flavour and authenticity.”

It’s not just the product design fuelling the craze; social media has played a major role.
Shops are posting restock updates the moment new shipments arrive.
One wrote: “They’re back. I NEEEEED to get some”, while another simply said: “The BEST.”
A large part of their appeal lies in how easily they slot into the Instagrammable, social-first lifestyles of their key audience.
Ms Scheerhorn said: “We’ve noticed UK consumers especially love BuzzBallz for pre-drinks with friends, festival weekends and summer get-togethers.
“You might say it plays the role for Gen Z that WKD and Smirnoff Ice once did for Millennials.”
BuzzBallz have become more than just a drink. They are a vibe, a sunny-day companion, a pre-party staple, and a social media prop all in one.
And now, with the launch of a giant version of the drink, excitement is only set to grow.
From novelty drink to global sensation, the BuzzBallz brand is rolling fast and it’s clear the UK’s new obsession is only getting started.
