"F**k. Why did I do it?"
Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan (2023) remains one of the biggest blockbusters in Bollywood history.
Millions of fans loved the film. However, one person who was apparently not fond of it was Viraj Ghelani.
Viraj is an actor and content creator. He played a cameo role as Dubey in Jawan.
During an interview on a podcast, Viraj spoke negatively about filming the movie, calling the experience his “worst ever”.
The actor was asked what he thought of his role in Jawan.
He replied: “Don’t talk. F**k. Why did I do it? People are very sweet and watched the film for me. But it was my worst experience ever.
“Because see the thing is, they don’t consider you because they have Sanjay Dutt, Shah Rukh Khan, two Shah Rukh Khans, and all those things.
“The work culture was, ‘stand here, do this’.
“There was this scene where in the close-ups, I have a gun because I am a cop and then they go for a wide shot.
“Then I said that prop guy has taken my gun. They said that the gun would come to me. But the gun never came.”
Viraj added that his friends never saw the film. He continued: “They were like, ‘f**k that’.
“I came and I went. I am just a blurred image in the background. I had [shot] proper dialogues.
“I had shot for 10 days in Madh Island in the heat of May.
“Then suddenly, I see that whatever we had worked on for 15 days, they only used what we shot during the first 30 minutes on the first day.”
Jawan was directed by Atlee. It starred Shah Rukh Khan in a double role along with Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupati.
Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt appeared in extended guest roles.
The film was the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023. It earned over Rs 1,148 crores (£113 million) at the box office.
Divulging why he signed Jawan, Shah Rukh revealed:
“One day my elder son and my daughter told me I have to do films which are very cool for the youngest AbRam.
“I thought the only cool thing he likes is all the anime and action films.
“So I decided to be a superhero and I thought I didn’t look good in a spandex.
“So without getting into a spandex, I got into bandages and that’s why this action film.”
