Usman then called his mother in Karachi
Usman Peerzada recalled when he eloped with his wife Samina when the pair were 21 and 17 respectively.
During an interview with Fuchsia, Usman revealed that it was Samina who initiated that they should get married one day and he agreed.
Usman stated that the lovebirds secretly went to a mosque and had their Nikkah read, before returning home with a box of sweets to celebrate.
He recalled that Samina’s mother was very angry with what had happened.
Usman then called his mother in Karachi so she could handle the situation.
A few days later, Usman and Samina were given the blessings of their families and their marriage was celebrated in a public event.
Whilst speaking about his 48-year marriage to his wife, Usman gave valuable advice to viewers and said that it was normal for a couple to have disagreements in their relationship.
He advised that to make a marriage successful it was important to respect one another as individuals and be willing to forgive one another.
During his interview, Usman was asked if it was important that a parent was a friend to their child, to which Usman wholeheartedly agreed.
Usman spoke of a time when his two daughters were young and said that he always told them they should never lie.
He said that by giving his daughters freedom it enabled them to build their personality and that they were protected by the upbringing bestowed upon them by their parents.
Usman went on to praise Samina and admitted she had done a wonderful job in raising their children.
