TV actress Helly Shah has confirmed that she will be making her Cannes debut.
After it was reported that Hina Khan would be returning to Cannes in 2022, there was speculation that Helly Shah would also attend the prestigious film festival.
The Ishq Mein Marjawan 2 actress has now expressed her excitement to go to Cannes 2022.
Helly said: “I am excited but I want to keep calm as well.
“Going to Cannes is something I never imagined. I can’t wait to be there.
“I never imagined that I would debut at an international platform like Cannes one day.
“Like everyone else, every year, I would wait for the photos of celebrities walking the red carpet, their interviews and the films showcased at the festival.”
Helly will walk the red carpet on two occasions.
Firstly, she will be launching the poster of her film debut Kaya Palat.
The thriller is directed by Shoaib Nikash Shah while it also stars Rahat Kazmi and Tariq Khan.
Helly will also walk the red carpet for L’Oréal Paris, making her the first Indian TV actress to do so.
Calling it a “huge opportunity”, Helly continued:
“I am a bit numb and I am feeling nervous. I won’t say it’s a responsibility but it is a big deal for me.
“I don’t want to miss a thing. I don’t want to plan too many things right now. I want to go there and live in the moment and experience it all.
“Once I am there, I want to feel the excitement. I am nervous and super excited.”
Helly admitted that the last few days have been hectic for her as she had a “ton of things to do before leaving” for France.
In addition to her Cannes debut, Helly Shah stated that she is looking forward to India being celebrated at the festival.
She added: “India has been chosen as first Country of Honour at Cannes and that makes me immensely proud to see our country being honoured at a world stage.”
Cannes Film Festival runs from May 17 to May 28, 2022.
The red carpet will be a gala event for the Indian audience as Indian celebrities are set to walk there as part of the Indian delegation on the festival’s opening day.
Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone is part of the coveted jury at the festival.
