Social media content creator Tamkenat recently claimed that TV channels are to blame for the rise of bad actors.

During the guest appearance on Something Haute, Tamkenat discussed the evolving dynamics of television casting and promotion.

She noted that contemporary channels not only consider social media influence when casting actors but also prioritise promoting dramas featuring these individuals.

Tamkenat said: “Channels promote stars instead of projects.

“These stars are everywhere; in ads, in dramas etc.

“If someone has a big following, it does not mean that they are also good actors, or they can fit in all roles.”

While she harbours no ill will towards these actors, Tamkenat expressed concern that the emphasis on social media popularity may overshadow talent.

According to her, this could lead to an influx of subpar dramas garnering high ratings.

Conversely, she observed that critically acclaimed shows like her Standup Girl may not receive comparable publicity despite resonating with audiences.

Furthermore, Tamkenat highlighted the discerning nature of the audience, noting their preference for quality content over melodramatic productions.

However, she lamented that many viewers may remain unaware of worthwhile shows due to the disproportionate promotion of formulaic dramas.

Many users agreed with her statements.

A user wrote: “True talent is often ignored because of this concept of only choosing big stars for everything.

“We see the same faces everywhere. Honestly, I am quite tired of them.”

One added: “Just like Humayun Saeed, Hamza Ali Abbasi, and Ayeza Khan are everywhere just because they are ‘big stars’.

“I would rather see the younger generation on my TV screen. People like Khushal Khan Khattak should be given a chance.”

Another said: “I have been watching Tamkenat’s No Filters videos after watching her in Standup Girl.

“They are so apt, truly depicting different aspects of our society in such a hilarious manner. Have become a huge fan of hers.”

“She is Mashallah so talented and intelligent and pretty.

“Didn’t know she was a doctor, never calls herself Dr Tamkenat. An all-rounder full of energy and life; positive with her hand on the pulse of the society.”

One commented: “What a tremendously confident person. Extreme clarity of thoughts. Strong-headed, emancipated woman. These are the people who need to be on our screens.”

Tamkenat is a doctor, actor, comedian, social media content creator and social activist.

In Standup Girl, her portrayal of the character Hina resonated strongly with audiences, earning her widespread praise.

Her contributions to various platforms have garnered widespread acclaim, and she is now transitioning into mainstream acting.
