Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu has recently opened up about her alleged involvement in a tax evasion probe.

Pannu’s Mumbai residence was recently raided by the Income Tax department in connection with a tax evasion probe.

The raid took place on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.

The Income Tax department carried out raids across 30 locations in both Mumbai and Pune.

According to reports, cash receipts worth Rs. 5 Crore (£490,000) were recovered from Taapsee Pannu’s residence.

The Income Tax Department also covered Reliance Entertainment CEO Shibhasish Sarkar and multiple executives of celebrity and talent management companies KWAN and Exceed.

Now, Taapsee Pannu has broken her silence on the matter, both on social media and in interviews.

The actress has taken to Twitter to discuss the recent raid on her property. Her tweets came on Saturday, March 6, 2021.

Pannu’s first tweet read:

“3 days of intense search of 3 things primarily.

“1. The keys of the ‘alleged’ bungalow that I apparently own in Paris. Because summer holidays are around the corner.”

Pannu then added:

“2. The “alleged receipt worth 5 crores to frame n keep for future pitching coz I’ve been refused that money before.”

The actress’s final tweet of the thread read:

“3. My memory of 2013 raid that happened with me according to our honourable finance minister.

“P.S- ‘not so sasti’ anymore.”

Also, during a recent interview with NDTV, Taapsee Pannu said that she has nothing to fear about the allegations against her.

She said:

“I was wondering who is giving me Rs. 5 crore. There were stories of me having a bungalow in Paris.

“I answered all the questions asked by the Income Tax officers. My family and I cooperated with the I-T department.”

However, Pannu went on to say that she is willing to face consequences if she is guilty.

She said:

“If there is anything wrong it will come out, I can’t hide anything.

“If I have done something wrong, I will serve the punishment.”

Taapsee Pannu was also asked why her property was raided. In response, she said:

“There is no way to confirm why I was raided. When IT raids happened, there is no option but to follow the procedure.”

The actress seems to have no fear as she continues to shoot for her upcoming film Dobaara.

The film is being directed by Anurag Kashyap and is due for release in 2021.
