Suriya’s ‘Vaadivaasal’ with Vetrimaaran shelved?

Social media is abuzz with the rumour that Vaadivaasal, Suriya‘s upcoming film with director Vetrimaaran, has been shelved due to reasons unknown.

This came as a shock to the actor’s fans, who were already disheartened as Vanangaan, the actor’s film with director Bala, was officially dropped due to creative differences between the two.

However, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu has now confirmed that Vaadivaasal is very much on the cards and called the rumours baseless.

Kalipuli S Thanu called out the rumours and requested everyone not to spread such things.

He said: “These are baseless rumours. People seem to spread such news for their 10-minute fame.

“I request fans not to believe this news. The film is still on and the pre-production work is currently underway.”

Earlier, Suriya opted out of Bala’s film Vanangan.

The director shared a statement and announced that it was decided mutually that it is in the best interests of everyone involved that he should opt out of the project.

According to recent reports, Arun Vijay has been roped in to play the lead role in Vanangaan, which was initially designed for Suriya.

Meanwhile, Vaadivaasal is an adaptation of a Tamil novel of the same name.

Written by CS Chellapa, it is a story about a bull and the person who captures it.

The film will unfold against the backdrop of Jallikattu, the traditional sport practised in Tamil Nadu in which a bull must be captured.

The music for the film will be composed by GV Prakash.

On Suriya’s birthday, the makers of the film shared a special glimpse video.

The video gives an insight into the actor’s intense training with a bull.

Vaadivaasal is regarded as one of the most ambitious projects in the star’s career.

The story revolves around a Jallikattu player, who wants to tame a famous and formidable bull named Kaari that had killed its father.

Suriya will be playing dual roles as the son and the father in the film.

The shoot of the film is still underway and major updates are expected to be announced soon.

The film features Ameer Sulthan, Andreah Jeremiah, and Soori in key roles.

Vaadivaasal is expected to release in 2023.

On the work front, Suriya is also part of director Siruthai Siva’s upcoming yet-to-be-titled film.

He will also be returning as Rolex in Vikram 2, which is expected to go on floors once Lokesh Kanagaraj wraps up his next film with Vijay.
