"This is supremely f***ed up."
Actors Supriya Ganesh & Maitreyi Ramakrishnan recently slammed a hateful and classist post on X.
The viral post targeted four women who have made significant strides within the competitive Hollywood entertainment industry.
An anonymous user combined photos of Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Charithra Chandran, Geraldine Viswanathan, and Supriya Ganesh.
The caption described these successful women as the “most common faces used by Hollywood to represent Indians. Kamwali bai (househelp) phenotype.”
Supriya Ganesh from the show The Pitt immediately reposted the offensive content to address the underlying self-hate.
She wrote: “Hey so this is supremely f***ed up and I truly hope you deal with your self-hate. Colourist, classist, garbage take.”
The actor further highlighted the hidden issues by adding: “And casteist but are we ready to talk about that?”
In another follow-up tweet, the actor added her thoughts about standing up for people who look like her.
“And I’m always going to talk back about this s*** because I’m never going to let women and folks who look like me feel bad about themselves. Never going to shut up.”
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who starred in the hit Netflix series Never Have I Ever, joined the conversation to support her colleague.
She dismissed the critic with a bold reply, saying: “Womp womp cry harder.
“Must be hard to look at four baddies constantly.”
Many fans and social media users quickly rallied behind the actors to condemn the blatant colourism and harmful classism.
One supporter noted that colourism is crazy because the critic wants people to believe these gorgeous women are ugly.
Another fan described Supriya Ganesh as a stunning person and expressed sadness over the projection of deep personal insecurities.
The community emphasised that beauty has no social or caste hierarchy and praised the actors for their strong words.
All four of the mentioned actors in the post have made significant waves in Hollywood.
Charithra Chandran is widely known for her role in Bridgerton and the popular live-action adaptation of One Piece.
Meanwhile, Geraldine Viswanathan has appeared in several major films, including the comedy Blockers and the upcoming Marvel movie Thunderbolts.
News also broke recently that Supriya Ganesh will not be returning for the third season of The Pitt.
The season two finale of the medical drama is set to premiere soon for viewers across the globe.
