"I am indeed very happy."

Sunny Deol has reacted to the love Gadar 2 has received.

The film was released on August 11, 2023, and Sunny reprises his role as Tara Singh 22 years after he was first seen as a truck driver who marries a Pakistani woman to save her life during the 1947 partition.

Gadar 2 grossed £3.8 million in India on its opening day, making it the country’s second-highest opening film of 2023.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan remains in first place with a £5.1 million opening.

Gadar 2 has already grossed £11.4 million, making it the highest-grossing film of Sunny Deol’s career.

He has now reacted to the film’s success.

Stating that the characters have received love from two generations, Sunny said:

“I am indeed very happy.

“When we did the second part of Gadar, we never knew it would be so loved by the audience.

“Two whole generations have gone by since we did the first Gadar. And still, people are as excited as they were the first time. I am amazed and very very happy.

“We need some hits to keep the film industry on its feet.”

Sunny was also asked about “the secret to his longevity”. He said he does not think about how old he is.

He also said he works to the best of his abilities “regardless” of his age.

Sunny Deol also gave advice to the younger generation of actors. He stated that these actors should focus on their acting skills rather than building a muscular physique.

He said: “Stop bodybuilding and dancing. Concentrate on acting.

“You have the talent, take it ahead because that’s what we need. We are not bodybuilders.

“You should be fit, strong, and healthy – and definitely music is something which is a part of our culture.

“I know you all have seen my earlier films, and so many earlier actors, plus there are quite a few new ones who are doing great work.

“Let them be your heroes rather than people who are simply muscling around.”

Gadar 2 is set during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War and when Tara is believed to be imprisoned in Pakistan, his son Charanjeet sets out to rescue him.

However, Tara is not in Pakistan and Charanjeet ends up being imprisoned and tortured by Pakistani soldiers under the orders of Major General Hamid Iqbal, who wants to exact revenge on Tara for eliminating his 40 men in 1947.

Upon learning this, Tara goes on a journey to save his son.
