"The situation on ground is not good."
Actor and humanitarian Sonu Sood has travelled to Nepal to assist victims of the devastating floods personally.
He arrived in Kathmandu and immediately made his way to one of the worst-affected areas to begin relief work on the ground.
Speaking from the ground, Sood said: “Yes I am here, at a place called Nuwakot, it’s among the most affected areas.
“Meeting those families, the survivors, was heart-wrenching.
“We are trying to do a lot of relief work for them- from arranging food supplies, medical help to shelters.
“We have been to many camps, met families. We have noted down their details too.”
His arrival in Nepal underscores the actor’s well-established reputation for showing up in person during humanitarian crises.
Sood also took to Instagram to share a carousel of photographs showing him meeting children who survived the devastating floods.
He wrote in the caption: “They lost their homes, their families, their childhood…but together, we will help them find a new beginning.
“Nepal, you are not alone.”
The images and his caption resonated deeply with followers and fans who have long admired his commitment to helping those in need.
Elaborating on what he witnessed on the ground, Sood painted a deeply distressing picture of the situation in Nuwakot for those following from afar.
He said: “The situation on ground is not good.
“All the relief camps are full of heartbroken people, especially Nuwakot.
“The debris here are unreal. Whole houses have been buried under the slush.
“I visited the miracle greenhouse too which has survived, and met the family living in it.
“A lot of people have lost their livelihoods. It is important for us to come together in this hour of need.
“If you find any details or connection to some survivor, try to help them.”
“Our charity is doing their bit. You can also get in touch with us, we will do whatever we can.”
The miracle greenhouse he referenced has become a symbol of resilience amid the catastrophic destruction that surrounds it in the affected area.
The relief efforts being coordinated by Sood and his charity encompass food supplies, medical assistance and the arrangement of shelters.
