"Nobody tells you how hard it is."
Sonam Kapoor, who recently announced her pregnancy, has opened up about her journey to motherhood.
Sonam said that the first three months of her pregnancy were quite difficult and she wasn’t prepared for it.
The actress told Vogue: “It’s been tough – nobody tells you how hard it is. Everybody tells you how wonderful it is.”
However, she seems ready to take up the challenges that come with motherhood.
She said: “The reason we’re all here is to change and become better versions of ourselves.
“So that evolution is something I look forward to.”
Recently, Sonam Kapoor announced that she is expecting her first child with Anand Ahuja.
Sharing photos on Instagram, she wrote: “Four hands. To raise you the very best we can.
“Two hearts. That will beat in unison with yours, every step of the way.
“One family. Who will shower you with love and support. We can’t wait to welcome you. #everydayphenomenal #comingthisfall2022.”
Sonam has often lent support towards feminist causes and ideals.
Speaking about the portrayal of women in Hindi cinema, she said: “We are always catering to the male gaze, which is disappointing.”
She added: “If I put a sexy picture of myself on Instagram, it’ll get way more likes than the one where I’m wearing a pretty dress.”
Many even criticised Sonam’s pregnancy announcement pictures, in which she wore a bodysuit.
In the pictures, Sonam wore a black long-sleeved bodysuit and cradled her growing baby bump.
One photo showed Sonam resting her head on Anand’s lap while another showed the couple laughing together.
Sonam’s family expressed their happiness on learning of the good news.
Her father Anil Kapoor shared Sonam and Anand’s pictures on his Instagram page and wrote:
“Now preparing for the most exciting role of my life – GRANDFATHER!!
“Our lives will never be the same again and I couldn’t be more grateful!
“@sonamkapoor and @anandahuja you have made us happy beyond measure with this incredible news!”
Sonam and Anand tied the knot on May 8, 2018, in a multiple-day, lavish wedding celebration.
The couple lives in London and frequently visit their parents in Delhi and Mumbai.
Sonam was last seen opposite Dulquer Salmaan in The Zoya Factor and also had an appearance in Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap’s AK vs AK.
She will now be seen in Shome Makhija’s crime-thriller film Blind.
Sonam Kapoor completed shooting for the film in 2021.
