"Drop the knife!"

Video footage has emerged of a knifeman being surrounded and later tasered by armed police.

The incident reportedly happened in Fernhurst Road, Alum Rock, Birmingham, during the early evening of August 16, 2022.

The man, in his 40s, had approached members of the public with a large knife.

He was reportedly seen shouting in the street with the weapon. The man was also said to be hitting a tree with the knife and approaching people in cars.

Following reports of the erratic man, police were called.

The video clip emerged and it showed the man carrying a rucksack whilst waving the large knife above his head as he stands on a porch roof.

He is heard shouting: “Allah, Allah!”

Meanwhile, armed police have surrounded him on the ground and are demanding for him to get down.

The man then lowers himself to the ground by stepping on an open window as a group of armed police officers and at least one police dog surround him.

As he takes a step toward the officers, the man is seen raising the knife behind his head.

At that point, armed police begin to taser him but are unsuccessful as they appear to hit his rucksack.

They eventually manage to taser him and the man falls to the ground. Officers swoop in and knock over wheelie bins as they quickly handcuff him.

One officer was heard repeatedly yelling: “Drop the knife!”

Another shouted: “I’ve got him.”
