"No one is interested in watching a ramp show of star kids."
It has been revealed that Shanaya Kapoor will make her Bollywood debut in Bedhadak, however, the film has been subjected to trolling.
The film is being helmed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and it is being directed by Shashank Khaitan.
In addition to Shanaya Kapoor, relative newcomers Lakshya Lalwani and Gurfateh Pirzada will also star in Bedhadak.
Karan shared a series of film posters, featuring the new stars of Dharma Productions.
For a while, there has been a lot of talk about Shanaya’s impending Bollywood debut and now it has been unveiled.
In a social media post, she wrote:
“A new era of love is filled with passion, intensity and boundaries that will be crossed!
“Presenting Bedhadak where I get to share the screen with my suave co-actors, Lakshya and Gurfateh – directed by the one and only Shashank Khaitan.”
Fellow actresses expressed their excitement for the film.
Janhvi Kapoor said: “So stoked about this. Shanaya Kapoor, you are a star and I know you’re going to kill it.
“Lakshya I am so happy everyone’s going to see how amazing you are on the big screen. Gurfateh can’t wait to see you shine.”
Shanaya’s friend Suhana Khan said: “Can’t wait, love you the most.”
Close friend Ananya Panday, who was also launched by Dharma Productions, commented:
“This looks like so much fun. Can’t wait. I love you Shani.”
While the film has received a lot of love from Bollywood celebrities, netizens were less appreciative, taking to social media to troll the film and Karan Johar.
Many reignited the topic of nepotism, criticising Karan for his habit of launching star kids.
One person said: “People have moved on towards sensible OTT content, there are no followers now for such pom pom shallow scripts followed up by useless acting skills.
“No one is interested in watching a ramp show of star kids.”
Another wrote: “So Karan Johar continues with his tradition of launching star kids i.e Shanaya Kapoor in Bedhadak.
“What will Kangana Ranaut say about this alleged ‘nepotistic decision’ as she will see it?”

Another comment read: “Bollywood will be finished very soon courtesy of people who can’t think beyond nepotism substandard content.
“It’s something that you just can’t change with certain people even after such massive losses.”
“Bollywood will ultimately collapse as better options are available.”
One person slammed Karan Johar and referred to Shanaya Kapoor as a “dumb bimbo”.
Bollywood's standards of great acting comes from superlatively mediocre Alia Bhatt, so, nothing expected from Bollywood now. Let's watch world cinema!
