The setback may now push filming into September
Shah Rukh Khan suffered a muscle injury while filming King, causing production delays and forcing the actor into a month-long recovery break.
The incident took place at Golden Tobacco Studio in Mumbai.
It happened during a physically demanding sequence that was part of the ongoing action schedule.
Though not life-threatening, the injury required immediate medical evaluation.
It prompted Shah Rukh and his team to travel to the United States for further treatment.
Doctors have reportedly advised the 59-year-old actor to rest completely and avoid physical strain throughout August 2025.
As a result, all upcoming King shoots at Film City, Yash Raj Studios, and other venues have been postponed until further notice.
Directed by Pathaan filmmaker Siddharth Anand, King was originally scheduled for a packed July-August production window.
The setback may now push filming into September or October, depending on SRK’s recovery timeline.
Before Siddharth joined, Sujoy Ghosh was attached to direct the film, but creative shifts altered the initial plan.
The film’s cast includes a heavyweight ensemble: Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Anil Kapoor, and Arshad Warsi.
Suhana Khan, Shah Rukh’s daughter, plays a pivotal role opposite her father in what is believed to be a dynamic emotional-action hybrid.
King is not a remake, but its narrative reportedly takes inspiration from Bichhoo, which itself was a version of Léon: The Professional.
Shah Rukh is said to portray a mysterious assassin who partners with a younger character (Suhana) on a vengeance-fuelled mission.
The storyline includes themes of personal loss, loyalty, and redemption, with fast-paced sequences anchoring the dramatic plot.
Filming was also expected to take place in various European locations, complementing domestic shoots in India.
According to production sources, all logistics have been temporarily halted and rescheduled based on the lead actor’s health.
A source close to the crew reportedly said:
“This isn’t his first injury. He’s known for performing his own stunts, even at this stage of his career.”
The delay has sparked concern among fans, but producers insist the project remains on track once Shah Rukh Khan is cleared to resume work.
Following Jawan and Pathaan, King is one of the most anticipated releases, with strong box office expectations riding on Shah Rukh’s return.
While the team pauses production, fans remain hopeful and await the comeback of Indian cinema’s enduring megastar.
