“We would talk about things we could do to spice it up.”

Romesh Ranganathan opened up about his marriage, including how he and his wife Leesa keep their relationship thriving despite the pressures of work and family life.

The pair met whilst working at Hazelwick School in Crawley.

On The Mid-Point with Gabby Logan podcast, the comedian described the exhaustion that comes with his career:

“I’m knackered from work and I’m not very good as a person; my chat wasn’t very good. I come in and slump on the sofa.”

Romesh acknowledged his demeanour can have at home, especially when his wife is trying to talk to him.

He said: “I was particularly tired and Lisa was talking to me, and I was being a bit like, um yeah.”

Romesh admitted that he needs to make an effort, even when he is tired.

“I’m completely myself in front of Leesa but I think there should be some effort as well, and what I mean by that is if I come in from a long day, I owe it to my children to do a tight 5 on what my day’s been.

“I need to be in the room and be engaged and that had slipped.”

He talked about the steps he and his wife have taken to keep their marriage exciting.

“We would talk about things we could do to spice it up.”

Highlighting that the couple have a fundamental belief in their relationship, Romesh said:

“Leesa and I feel like we should be together, so you go, we’ll work at it and we’ve always said to each other, if you ever feel like being in this – we said it jokingly a couple of times but it felt like it had more weight – if you ever feel like walking away from this is the thing that will make you happy, you know.

“I will always love you unconditionally so if you’re happiness is you gotta be somewhere else then that’s fine.”

Expressing deep affection for his wife, Romesh said:

“But the truth is, at least I believe, I’m completely and utterly in love with Leesa and I know she is with me.”

“And I just think you just gotta go ‘we’re in love and we’ve got to behave accordingly’.”

Romesh Ranganathan is currently taking on different challenges with fellow comedian Rob Beckett in Rob And Romesh Vs.

After taking on heavy metal, the pair are set to delve into the world of mixed martial arts, airing on Sky Max on September 11, 2024.
