"Her brother was the one, who assaulted me."
Ranvir Shorey claimed Pooja Bhatt’s brother assaulted him as he discussed his issues with the Bhatt family.
The actor was in a relationship with Pooja in the early 2000s but it ended in an ugly breakup.
Since then, Ranvir and the Bhatt family have not seen eye-to-eye.
Ranvir faced allegations that he physically and verbally abused Pooja.
Addressing the claims, he said they were lies planted in the media by Mahesh Bhatt.
Ranvir also said he had been “manipulated” by the veteran filmmaker.
He told Siddharth Kannan: “At the time we had a conflict, I felt that the respect I had for him, he used that manipulatively.
“When the fight happened, he told my father, ‘Ok, we will rest the matter here, whatever the fight happened between the kids’.
“Next day, he proceeded to print utter lies about me, planted false stories in the media against me, painting me as an alcoholic abusive person. All lies!”
Ranvir went on to claim that Pooja’s brother assaulted him.
He elaborated: “Her brother was the one, who assaulted me.
“He (Mahesh Bhatt) could have told these guys not to talk like that…. In that sense, I felt he was manipulative towards me.
“These are all 25-year-old stories, I don’t want to get into them now.”
Pooja had claimed that Ranvir would become “violent” when drunk and would be physically abusive towards her.
Ranvir Shorey was last seen as a contestant on Bigg Boss OTT 3.
During his time in the house, he spoke about his relationship with Pooja Bhatt, calling it the biggest scandal of his life.
He also clashed with eventual winner Sana Makbul on the show.
After Sana Makbul’s Bigg Boss OTT 3 victory, Ranvir gave his thoughts on her winning.
He said: “I don’t think she was the most deserving candidate, but one has to respect Bigg Boss’ decision and the voting. I always knew voting is my weak spot.
“My objective was to make it to the finale so that I can experience the whole show.
“I made it to top 3 despite not having a proper PR or management team at the moment.
“I think I have done well. As far as Sana winning is concerned, this show is unpredictable and it has shown us that by her win. But I certainly congratulate her.”
Ranvir Shorey was married to Konkona Sen Sharma. However, they separated in 2015.
Pooja Bhatt married Manish Makhija in 2013, but the duo separated a year later.
