The revered Bollywood couple – Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone – have officially confirmed that they are expecting their first child together.
The baby is due in September 2024.
In February 2024, it was rumoured that Deepika was pregnant with her first child. Fans will be delighted to know that these rumours were true.
The couple announced the news on Instagram, with a heart-warming picture saying: “September, 2024”.
The photo was surrounded by icons of hearts and dummies.
Deepika captioned the post with three heartfelt emojis.
Bollywood celebrities and fans alike offered their heartiest congratulations to the pair.
Preity Zinta wrote: “Wow, congratulations!”
Renowned singer Shreya Ghoshal said: “Omg!!!! So excited, so happy for you both. Many many congratulations.”
Meanwhile, Bipasha Basu gushed: “Congratulations sweetheart. Best phase of life coming soon.”
Arjun Kapoor, who starred with Ranveer in Gunday (2014), added:
“Baba getting his own baby with Boo Boo!!!”
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in 2018. Since then, fans have admired them for their inspiring maturity and boundless love.
In a previous interview, Deepika had addressed the possibility of having kids.
She explained: “Ranveer and I love children. We look forward to the day when we will start our own family.”
In a 2013 interview, the actress also delved into her vision of having three children:
“If I was not an actor, I don’t know what I would’ve been doing.
“But hopefully with some children around. Three little kids scuttling about.
“Hopefully, be working enough to take them to shoots, have a happy family.
“And at the same time, still doing what I’m doing.”
Rumours of a pregnancy began when Deepika was apparently seen concealing her stomach when she attended the 2024 BAFTA Red Carpet event.
This led to gossip on Reddit, but some fans wondered what the fuss was all about.
One user commented: “Why are people so obsessed with this thing?
“If she is pregnant and she wants to share it, she will.
“Pregnancies are very taxing on a woman. We don’t know even what else it could be.
“People nowadays have no sensitivity or a sense of privacy.”
Ranveer and Deepika began dating on the sets of their film Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela (2013).
They have also appeared together in Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.
On the work front, Deepika Padukone was last seen in Siddharth Anand’s Fighter (2024) with Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh last appeared in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023).
He will next star in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again.
