"the accused person created shame in the eyes of the women"
Ranveer Singh and his nude photoshoot have landed him in trouble as a police complaint has been filed.
The Bollywood star recently bared all for Paper Magazine and one picture was a tribute to Burt Reynolds who posed in a similar fashion for Cosmopolitan Magazine in the 1970s.
In the accompanying interview, Ranveer said:
“It’s so easy for me to be physically naked, but in some of my performances I’ve been damn f**ing naked.
“You can see my f**ing soul. How naked is that? That’s being actually naked. I can be naked in front of a thousand people, I don’t give a s**t. It’s just that they get uncomfortable.”
The likes of Alia Bhatt, Arjun Kapoor and Rakhi Sawant praised the photoshoot.
However, Mimi Chakraborty asked what the response would be if an actress did the same photoshoot.
She tweeted: “Internet broke with Ranveer Singh’s latest photoshoot and comments were fire (mostly).
“Just wondering if the appreciation would have been the same if she was a woman.
“Or would you have burned her house down, taken up morchas, given her a death threat and slut shamed her.
“We talk about equality where is that now??!!!! You know right it’s your perspective that can change something or destroy it totally.
“In this case, let’s broaden our perspective coz that body comes with a lot of sacrifices trust me (No salt, No sugar, No carbs…).”
Ranveer Singh has now had a police case filed against him for allegedly “hurting women’s sentiments”.
In the complaint, which was filed in Mumbai Police Station, part of it read:
“Last week we saw many nude photographs were clicked in such a manner that any male or female will feel ashamed about it.”
“These kinds of acts should be opposed strongly, as it is not being opposed then second and third rank actors will also follow the same path for getting cheap publicity which will result in a worse condition.
“As this act of the accused person created shame in the eyes of the women at large and publishing and transmitting sexually explicit material.”
The complaint was filed under section 67A of the IT Act along with sections 292, 293, 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code for hurting sentiments and insulting the modesty of women.
On the work front, Ranveer Singh is currently shooting with Alia Bhatt for Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
