""Or would you have burned her house down"

Actress and politician Mimi Chakraborty has questioned Ranveer Singh’s nude photoshoot and gender equality on the matter.

Ranveer went viral as he posed naked for Paper Magazine.

In one picture, he was seen lying on a rug, paying tribute to Burt Reynolds, who had posed in a similar fashion for Cosmopolitan Magazine in 1972.

In another, Ranveer sat and posed on a Turkish rug.

One picture saw Ranveer stand and pose in his underwear.

The photoshoot broke the internet but Bengali actress Mimi Chakraborty raised the issue of gender equality.

Reacting to the pictures, she asked what would be the response if it was a woman posing naked.

She wrote on Twitter: “Internet broke with Ranveer Singh’s latest photoshoot and comments were fire (mostly).

“Just wondering if the appreciation would have been the same if she was a woman.

“Or would you have burned her house down, taken up morchas, given her a death threat and slut shamed her.

“We talk about equality where is that now??!!!! You know right it’s your perspective that can change something or destroy it totally.

“In this case, lets broaden our perspective coz that body comes with a lot of sacrifices trust me (No salt, No sugar, No carbs…).”

Mimi’s reaction prompted a variety of responses.

One agreed, writing: “Absolutely right Mimi. You have slapped so hard to so many with your comments.

“First of all if some actress would have posted these kinds of pics, then people think she is doing this to get offers for films and she is ready to do anything to get money, ads and movies.”

Some believed that there has not been any issues.

One replied: “I get your point but it’s hypothetical.

“We had similar photoshoots with Milind Soman and Madhu Sapre in the past.

“There were some sparks but largely people were cool about it.”

Others said that Indian society are becoming more accepting.

“These are the improvements of the country. At first, girls used to do model pictures like this. Now boys are doing it too. Do not get angry after seeing these things.”

Speaking about fashion and nakedness, Ranveer had told Paper Magazine:

“It’s so easy for me to be physically naked, but in some of my performances, I’ve been damn f*****g naked. You can see my f*****g soul.

“How naked is that? That’s being actually naked. I can be naked in front of a thousand people, I don’t give a s**t. It’s just that they get uncomfortable.”
